Re: Hysterectomy next week & I'm not freaked out ... WHY?

I'm 47, married with no kids (when we married Dr was nearly 42 and I totally respected the fact he didn't want to start parenthood in his mid 40's. I was nearly 35 with 2 prior spine fusions).

I've had severe back pain made worse with cramping, not so much other menstrual issues. Love my gone and he previously took an ovary and tied my tubes. If any doc can convince insurance this hysterectomy will help my spine pain issue it's him. Plus I've had my gallbladder removed and this will be a similar recovery.

I'm excited to get this over with and toss out my feminine hygeine products, never worry about being equipped when in our RV.

Re: Hysterectomy next week & I'm not freaked out ... WHY?

Just wanted to say- I understand- I am not freaked out about losing that non-working part either. Haven't identified with it in so long.... I do have one child but if we have any more we had already planned to adopt because the issues around his birth were so difficult for me. I think you are normal and rational and everyone deals with something scary like surgery differently.

Take care!

Re: Hysterectomy (3/6) & I'm not freaked out ... WHY?

Hi ladies, my uterus eviction day is next Wednesday . I'm not emotional over losing my uterus at all. We had a long run !! Gave me my one and only beautiful daughter . But before and after having my child it caused me sooo much pain and the pain gets worse each month . I tried the ablation 8 months ago and it failed. I was told after my child that I would never have anymore kids and I never did so I just accepted that and feel so blessed to have her!!!! I had a period last week and OMG the pain, flooding , clots were UNBEARABLE !!! The pain kept me up at night. Had to work with it and the only thing I was thinking was this is my LAST ONE!!! My uterus served it's magor purpose for me but now it's taking so much of my life away. I am nervous though about surgery itself... I'm a ball of nerves!!! But ready to get it over with !!! Hope you surgery went well . I'll see you on the other side soon

Im much the same. My LAVH is April 8th and Im very nervous about the pain but not about the procedure.
Hubby and I are just married and we have no kids. I'm just shy of 39 and have pelvic pain for years. When my surgeon said 'what are you going to let me do to you to fix it" I almost fell in love with him!!!!! FIX IT!!!
......let's just hope it DOES fix it!
Hope your surgery went well xxx
