Finally - Tomorrow is Pre Op !

I feel like I'm on a roller coaster of emotions. Ever since I got my schedule date I am more anxious than ever and now it's getting closer. I know I'm as prepared as I'm going to be but I have work issues that are making me stressed out on top of all of it. I have not been taking 800 mg ibuprofen (per doctors orders) and I've been cramping on a daily basis (with no bleeding) and seems to be getting worse so I wish my surgery was here and over with already. I've had several people that have had their "surgeries" give me unwanted opinions on how long I should be out. For example; my daycare provider (in home) matter of factly states that her mom had it done and was only off work for a week; I wanted to scream "Well, IM NOT YOUR MOTHER" And then I thought better of it because I know she means well but seriously... I've been through other surgeries some were a cake walk; others not so much. I've been through an emergency C Section, and then with my son just under two years ago another C Section, several laproscopic surgeries including removal of my gallbladder, myeomectomy to remove fibroids.

I'm not so sure I'm going to bounce back like everyone thinks. I have so many 'what if's in my head its making my head spin. Like for instance - my biggest concern is how difficult it will be for my doctor to do this laproscopically with so many prior surgeries.

I have my list of questions prep'd and ready to go for tomorrow - all 15 of them I hope I didn't forget anything... sorry for the venting needed to get this out somehow

Re: Finally - Tomorrow is Pre Op !

Hello Friend : I truly understand how you are feeling now. I'm going through the same since my surgery is tomorrow I've been trying to get everything ready : laundry done, some meals, last minute grocery shopping, bowel prep, its a no ending list. Please the last thing you have to wprry about is what other people think about what should be your recovery timeframe. Seriously you are unique and that is why you can compare with anybody else. I did too have a couple of laparoscopic surgeries one when I got my tubes tied and another due to an umbilical hernia. So I more less know how I am gonna feel after but knowing that doesn't diminish my fears and my what if's. I know we gonna be ok. Carriebear1977 I'm sending you Big Hugs and good vibes to you )

Re: Finally - Tomorrow is Pre Op !

Hi Carriebear1977 -

Your emotional , nerves, fears, and the increased intensity is all very normal. This is one tough surgery to process and digest.

It is so hard to predict how anyone will heal. AND I agree, it is really annoying when someone comes in and says that so-and-so healed in some short amount of time. You are right - it does not matter. Healing from this surgery is not a contest, nor is it a race. It is more a marathon than a sprint. You always need to remember that you only get one chance to heal right, and to listen to your body.

Know that you are not alone in this, and that you have tons of support on this marvelous site.
