Upcoming fibroid myomectomy with robotic laparoscopic exploration 3/20: False Wives Tale: Post-op "GAS" Pain??

They kept asking me in the hospital if I had any gas pain and I had no idea what they were talking about. I did a complete bowel cleanse and hadn't eaten anything so I had no idea why I'd have gas. They had to explain to me.

Probably about 18 hours after I was out of surgery I started to feel a moment where it felt like a gas bubble was moving in some specific spot in my torso. It last for about 3-4 seconds until that little bubble moved. I would say that sensation didn't even plague me for a full 24 hours and it certainly wasn't constant. Just moments here and there that were uncomfortable. I think I moved thru that pretty quickly because I was pretty active right away. They say that moving around helps get the organs going again and that includes the bowels. It wasn't bad at all for me so I wouldn't worry yourself about it. Just plan to move around and flush your system with water so you are getting your body back on track.

Doc said at my preop appointment that, "CO2 gas pains are caused by the PRESSURE used to keep the belly inflated, not dryness nor coldness from CO2 damaging internal tissues. Some guy is trying hard to sell everyone CO2 heating/humidifying technology and I wish that his misinformation would not be available online." My doc was clearly irritated by this guy, Lol.

Anyhow, I am a week after my vaginal 4 cm fibroid myomectomy with robotic laparoscopic exploration/excision of endometriosis and I had absolutely no pain post-op whatsoever. I have an excellent surgeon, he is a specialist and director of our local robotics program in my area hospitals. However, I can not rule out that he may have been extra gentle since I brought this to his attention. =)
