I would ask your DR... it depends on the extent of your surgery and any other medical concerns you may have that your DR might be allowing for.

I've had surgeries where I only had one, and I have had a surgery where I woke up with one in each arm as well as a central line in my neck.

I had the DaVinci & I had 2. They told me I needed 2 in case one failed & if an emergency occurred they would have access to another. Dr told me that it takes 90 seconds to get DaVinci Robot re positioned. Makes sense! When I woke up I had one still hooked up & the other was still in my hand but shut off.
