Hi!
Just wanted to update you all on my condition. I met with the radiologist yesterday and I am not a candidate for embolization because the procedure wont' really help with my pain as they suspect I have intestinal endo. as well. Kind of discouraging as I'll most likely have to have the hysterectomy. When I told the radiologist that I have rectal bleeding only with my period, he just looked at me like I had 2 heads. Why can't I find a doc that knows what I'm talking about and is ready to help me right away!!!
I'm meeting with a doc for a second opinion next week. In the meantime, my low back pain has really escalated lately.
Thanks for listening as always!

Hi Bailey- Okay so now you know that a hysterectomy would be your hope for relief.Hopefully that would stop the rectal bleeding as well.Surprises me though, that they can't figure out why that is happening.
Maybe the new doctor can give you some insight on that problem.Unfortunately the only adivse i can give you for the back pain is use a heating pad.I know after my hysterectomy the heating pad was my best friend...my back was always so sore from not being able to use the stomach muscles, which in turn put alot of pressure on the back.Let us know how you make out with the new doc.
hugs

Bailey,
If you have endometriosis in your colon, I may be wrong, as I am not a doctor, but I would think the hysterectomy won't solve that problem. I do know that you can still have endometriosis after a hysterectomy, providing the doctor did not remove all of the endometriosis before or during the hysterectomy. As long as you have hormone production you will continue to have growth. Hope this is of some help.
Hugs,
Toni

Bailey
It sounds like you are really having it tough. Are they planning on removing your ovaries? If so, I think it will resolve the hormone production issue Toni mentioned. I don't know how they go about getting rid of the endo on the intestines. Are you seeing a gyno or an intestinal specialist? Or both?
Good luck

Hi!
I am actually going to see another gyn. on Thursday for another opinion. I'll ask him if he know anybody who specializes in intestinal issues. I'll let you know what he says.
No talk about removing or not removing my ovaries yet. I would opt to keep them even if it means the endo grows back. I'm 43 so hopefully I'll be in menopause if/when that happens again and from what I've read endo clears up when you hit menopause. We'll see. Thanks for you support!

Jeez Bailey 1007 - It sounds like you've been thru quite a bit. I live in New Haven and the Dr. I go to, and his group, are competent, thorough and incredible. They listen to you, are helpful, treat you like a person; when I was diagnosed dh and I were dumbfounded. My doc told me "don' worry, I'm going to take really good care of you." and that put us at ease. Is you Dr. affiliated w/ a hospital? You need someone kind and gentle. I hope you find someone better. Good luck; better days are coming - best, Yomiss

Welcome fellow New Havener,Yomiss- You are so right. It really does make a difference when you like the doctor or group that you go to. I too have a great doctor and the group that he is with are all terrific as well. I just hope that Bailey will be able to find someone who can take care of her problems.Life is so much better now that I had my hysterectomy. Yes it was a very long recovery, but so very worth the time spent on healing. It made me re-learn the word patience all over again...but it was a good thing for me.I never had much before the surgery. How have you been feeling?, I noticed that you are very post-op.Just go slow, I'm sure you are still hurting.

Welcome aboard Yomiss. Hope all is going well for you. Glad you have a good doctor/group to fall back on. I lived in East Haven before moving to Cromwell. I still see my doctor in New Haven as I liked him so much I didn't want to switch.
Bailey,
I hope you make out alright on Thursday. You may need 2 docs to tag team on your surgery. One for the intestines and one for the uterus!
Keep us posted on what happens. Too bad you are all the way in Norwalk-sounds like a lot of the good docs are in New Haven area.

Hi All!
Thanks for all your good wishes. I agree that I think I'll need two docs to do my surgery. One for the endo and one for the adeno. I'm looking forward to meeting this new doc tomorrow. He comes highly recommended. I hesitated to go to him initially because I've always gone to women docs. But at this point I just want someone who'll really listen to me and has some answers for me. I feel so lost without that guidance I got from my old doc that moved out of state. Miss her a lot!
I'll post after my appt. tomorrow.
Thanks again for all the support CT sisters! You rock!
