Getting Sick! 3 weeks before surgery

I have a sore throat and some body aches. I am scared I will wake up worse tommorrow. I went to the store to buy something for it, but I am not sure what I can take. I was goint to get something like a preventative, like an immune booster. But the all had herbs and medicines in them Any suggestions? I dont have a fever. Do you think my surgery will be cancelled?

If you still have a sore throat at the time of your pre-admit they will more than likely cancel your surgery. I was told when I had my pre-admit that if I had any cold or flu symptoms (ie:fever, chills, sore throat, vommiting, diahrea)that I needed to call and let my doctor know because of anestesia. I would try and schedule an appointment with you primary care doctor to make sure you don't need antibiotics. I hope you get to feeling better before your surgery date!!!

leekelhank,
It's best to call your doctor or even make an appointment.
Only he or she can safely recommend a treatment plan for you.
I hope you feel better and don't have to cancel your castle visit!

Ok so when my husband came home from work I told him what was going on and he bought me some vitamin C and orange juice, he said to take that until the day of surgery, its suppose to me an immune booster? I can still take vitamin supplements just not herbs etc. Hopefully I will be feeling better!

I'm sorry you're feeling like you're getting sick. Please call your doctor to see what you can take and what you should avoid. Vitamin C was on my list of things not to take before surgery. It's not the same for everyone, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Give your doctor a call to see what is best for you.

Ask your doctor if you can gargle with salt water. It always helps my sore throat. I once waited three hours in student health in college, expecting to get a prescription for my sore throat, only to be told by the doctor to gargle with salt water! Hope you feel better soon.
