Upcoming hysterectomy May 4th: TLH Complex Hyperplasia w/o Atypia - Worried

Hi All - thanks for reading. I had a Lap, Hysteroscopy, D&C and Mirena Insertion 12 weeks ago. My body rejected the Mirena after some agonising cramps. clots and screams. Pathology discovered complex hyperplasia without atypia (endometrial), so now going in for TLH on May 4th.
I have had black discharge now for 4 weeks, I had a PAP 6 weeks ago that was clear. I have a severe pain in my lower back and exhaustion. Could the PAP smear have missed something?
I am going to see my GP on Monday but I'm becoming increasingly worried that my "without Atypia" has change to "with Atypia".
Any thoughts or those with similar experience can offer some insight?
I'm in Perth, WA - be nice to hear from others in the area for mutual support.

I understand why you're worried, but in a sense, it doesn't matter. The treatment for complex hyperplasia *with* atypia would be the same: a total hysterectomy. And yours is in only two weeks, so that's not long to wait. :-)

Hi Tasmas

I am sorry you are going through this, and being worried is very understandable. It is scary to have something growing inside of you and not know.

We have lots of ladies on this site, so hopefully one with the same or similar diagnosis will see this post and respond. In the meantime, here is an article that may provide information: Hyperplasia, Atypia, and Gynecologic (GYN) Cancer.

Just know you are not alone in any of this. We are here for you.

Looks like we will be going through this at the same time. I too am scheduled for LAVH on 5/4 due to complex hyperplasia without atypia. My case is unusual as my abnormal bleeding stopped about a year ago, but biopsies & hysteroscopy/D&C continued to show the hyperplasia hence the LAVH. I could not use Mirena or take hormones due to clotting issues.
Now that it's less than two weeks away, it feels so real and am so anxious. I'm worried that it may have progressed to "with atypia" or worse. Can't wait to get it done but worried about post-op pain & complications.
Hang in there!
too!

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy May 4th: TLH Complex Hyperplasia w/o Atypia - Worried

(((Tracy))) I had a different type of cancer but do know that without atypia is less concerning than with atypia. Either way, it sounds like you're catching things at an early stage when they are most treatable. So, even if things might have evolved somewhat, your upcoming surgery still might be the "only" treatment required.

We do have a Cancer Concerns forum you're welcome to check out as well, if you'd like. We cover everything from abnormal paps through dysplasia to actual cancer and beyond, and there's lots of great information.

We'll keep our fingers crossed for a smooth procedure and the best possible final path report. You can do this!
