hello everyone. i was suppose to have my tvh on nov 29th. but the insurance denied claim . they said it wasnt a medical necessity. the doctor called today, he was very upset. so now on the 29th i will be have a d&c, a hysteroscopy, laparpscopy, and an endometrial ablation done. i am hoping that these test please the insurance company, and afterwards, i am able to proceed with my tvh. i am so tired of hurting all the time. it is hendering my life greatly. if i'm not having my period, i am spotting, if i am not spotting, i am hurting regardless. my stomach on the right side is killing me right now, not to mention back pain. i couldnt sleep last night from the pain. i am just miserable. has anyone had all those things done at once? if so how did you fell afterwards? are they good test that will actually determine what is causing all my problems? i am not scared of having the test done. i just want my pain to stop so i can get back to enjoying life. i stay tired ALL the time. i am so moody. i cant stand myself, so how can anyone else stand me. the doctor had me on bc pills, but they made me sick, so i stopped taking them. i have never been able to take those. thats why after the birth of my 1st daughter i went on the depo shot. but any advise or stories would be greatly appreciated. i would love to know what my chances are of them finding out the cause of my pain would be. anyone have problems simular to mine? thanks to everyone.

I am so sorry that your claim was denied. How can an insurance policy decide what's best for you? That makes no sense to me. I am scheduled for surgery Jan 10 but I am still waiting on my ins company to approve my claim. I am so worried that I will be denied. I have fibroids and have experienced extremely heavy periods for two years. I take iron for anemia. My gyn says I am not a candidate for an ablation due to the size of my uterus. I am 47 and have 3 daughters. I don't want or need my uterus. I just want my life back and I am praying that I will hear good news from my insurance co. soon. I hope all goes well with you. I completely understand you when you say all this hinders your life because it really controls everything that you plan and consumes you.

Change of plans
My ins denied me the first time we went for the hyst in October. She ended up doing the lap instead. When that didn't bring relief whatsoever, she put in for the hyst, and had no problem. I had to wait a little bit, but hopefully after this, I'll actually have some relief.
Hugs, prayers, and luck,
Char

I think it's pretty normal for an insurance company to require a laparoscopy before they will approve a hysterectomy.
in there!!!

hi everyone, thanks for writing, and best of luck to those of you still in waiting. i think am going to have to call my dr tomorrow, and ask if he can prescribe me something for pain. i have taken over the counter meds and nothing is helping me. my nerves are completly shot. all i have done today is cry, and then cry some more, i say i will be seeing if he can prescribe me something for my nerves as well. my husband contacted the insurenace company today. they told him they denied it because further testing should be done befor my hysterectomy. they said because of alot of people going to the dr, saying they want this or that done, when they dont need it done in the first place. but i cant see a woman, going to the doctor and demanding a hysterectomy just so she no longer has periods. mine was because of the fibroids, the cyst on my overies, and the constant pain that expierence each and every single day.but i will play by the insurence rules. who knows, maybe i will be one of the lucky ones that the endometrial abliation actually helps. and as my dr said, if after that being done, if i still hurt then i will certainly be getting the hysterectomy. i just wish to have "my life" back, and be pain free for a change. drsrnsalter, i wish you the best of luck with your approval from the insurence company. but according to mine, unless everything else that can be done has been done, then insurence co usually deny hysterectomy. but i will be thinking about you, and each and everyone else here, and keep all of you in my thoughts and my prayers. and if you all ever need anyone to talk to, i am here for all of you. i will let you know how my test results come back, and if any further action is going to have to be taken. i also found out from my cat scan that i had done in the er, that i have a section of my bowels colapsed. they(the er) never said anything to me about that. i found out when i requested a copy of my scan results. they also said that with the bowel being colapsed that crohns disease couldnt be ruled out. so now i am also trying to find a specialist in my area to have that further looked into. if it isnt one thing it is another.

Change of plans
I am sorry that you are feeling frustrated. Changing plans mid-stream can be very stressful.
I will tell you that I had a lap, hysteroscopy, and D&C prior to my hyst. My doctor was able to give me a specific diagnoses this way and clean up as much endo as possible. It also showed that for me, a hyst was my only option.
Some medical conditions can only be diagnosed via a lap and pathology. Endo, for instance, rarely shows up on any test. It is typically only diagnosed by a lap or other surgery.
It is possible that your doctor will be able treat your situation during the lap and you can avoid the hyst. And possibly the D&C and/or ablation will stop your bleeding.

Actually, there are women who go to a doctor in order to have a hyst just to stop their period. They have no mecical condition, they just don't want to have a period. A hyst is a major irreversible surgery that can have a whole host of side effects that can affect you for the rest of your life. So it is important that the pros of having a hyst outweigh the cons. This is some of what your insurance company is trying to determine.
in there and I wish you the best for you upcoming procedures. Do keep us posted and let us know what your doctor finds out! s
