Top 10 Biggest Worries
Okay girls, let's get 'em out!
My top 10 biggest worries:
10. Getting through the piles of paperwork I have to file here at home.
9. Getting through the mountains of laundry I need to iron (oh heck...we can always buy more clothes!)
8. Getting my flower garden weeded.
7. Getting my annuals planted.
6. Getting the salsa garden planted.
5. Getting our taxes filed (I know, I know...why worry...I filed an extension!?!)
4. The EKG (don't ask me why...I've never had one before!)
3. Getting my insurance pre-cert.
2. Wondering how the heck they'll get the fibroid-five out through my vagina.
1. Drifting off to sleep, seeing that there truly IS light at the end of the tunnel...and walking toward it!
Wow. I feel a lot better having listed them. And YOURS?
Peace of mind and calm spirits to all!
Simi

Top 10 Biggest Worries
My top 10 worries are
10. Getting things straight at work before I go off.
9. Handing over to locum so I can go off!
8. Have I the energy to clean this house before surgery?
7. Will they remember we have a cat whilst I am away?
6, Will they feed it?
5. Will ds write another car off?
4. Can we live on beer and biscuits, as dh amd kids will be doing the shopping.
3. OMG I will have a catheter, and visitors will see my pee.
2. Embarassing my self as I wake from anaesthetic as I usually do.
1. Being the biggest wuss that the hospital has ever seen, dont do hospitals very well.
Quite looking forward to the rest. Had a EKG and stress test yesterday, piece of cake. Not worried about the garden, never have before, so why bother now!!
Main thing is not to worry about things and concentrate on getting through and over the surgery I suppose.

FELIX!
Felix!
Oh no you don't, girlfriend...you are NOT canceling!!! We'll ALL be here for you and you are going to be FINE...no brain damage, you WILL be able to go backpacking, and YOU ARE GOING TO BE FINE!!!
Now...please...stop worrying about things BEYOND your control, and go do something nice for yourself or someone else. Hmmm...I didn't mean that to sound harsh...read it in a caring voice, ok? As if I'm sitting with my arm around you, holding your hand.
I was worrying the other day, so I kicked myself in the rear and made custards for my dear uncle who is ailing from lung and esophagal cancer, and I went for a visit. It brightened his day and gave him something yummy to eat when NOTHING tastes good, and...best of all...I quit worrying! There is ALWAYS someone who is worse off than I am.
Peace of mind and a calm spirit to you!

Top 10 Biggest Worries
Simi and the other LIW,
Great tread!
I'm sorry to see you have so many things on your mind, but your obvious great sense of humor is coming through too.
I REALLY hope I'm not over-stepping my bounds.....
But, here's my list even though I'm Post Op:
(deep breath)
10. Will I be able to STOP picking up Q-tips with my toes, after my recovery?
9. Do other's see those spots I missed now that I'm finally able to shave my own legs?
8. 12 step programs for giving up my pillow addiction
7. Actually starting to like the taste of prune juice
6. Will my friends still be there for me when I'm done with my constant "hyster talk"?
5. The mailman thinking I only OWN pajamas
4. Learning to love weeds in my flower beds
3. Remembering that I still deserve all this pampering, long after the fact
2. Overlooking my body and still able to feel like a sex-kitten
(whew)
1. Taxes? Did my husband file our taxes???!
Thanks for letting me join it. You ladies are going to do great.

I concur, great thread Simi...
My ten are as follows:
10. Someone at work trying to pick up where I left off in all my cases and messing with my "system"
9. Parents are coming in to town...need I elaborate?
8. The cat....I am concerned that during one of my first days at home she will swan dive onto my tummy, as whe is want to do, causing some kind of rupture.
7. That at the first opportunity to eat solid food I will over-do it and end up passed out in the toiley of my hospital room.
6. The catheter. I just feel bad about people being able to see my urine collecting in a bag at the side of my bed.
5. Douching. Never done it before, have to do it tonight. Hope I get it right.
4. Any of those "unexpected" things they might find inside, or the possibility of the doc nicking my bladder or bowel.
3. Infection, infection, infection
2. Bowel prep. I can't think of a time when I ever drank a gallon of something I LIKED and felt good, much less a first run in with Go Lytely. I am pretty shy about bathroom habits as it is, and having my one woman cheering section watch me dash off to the bathroom is almost more than my pride can take.
1. Will I lose my mind not working for all that time? What if I get addicted to day time TV?

Top 10 Biggest Worries
You guys are so funny. You should print out your lists so you can review them after your hysts. I think one lesson you may learn is that some things, like dirty dishes, weeds in the garden and beer and biscuits are not all that bad. Now that I am working I miss "The View" and the Discovery channel makeovers as well as the afternoon movies (great for putting you to sleep). Yes I got addicted!
As far as your families not handling it...well I guess they will learn their strengths as well. Someone posted a while back that after your surgery DO NOT wear makeup or regular clothes around your family. You've got to 'look sick' to them whether you feel sick or not. It's a pretty effective decoy I would think. And you might be amazed at their resourcefulness.
Pajamas, lounge pants and mens jockey underwear are good things and I continue to wear them now. Wish I had discovered mens jockeys before...sooooo soft and kinda sexy.
EKGs they just stick moniters on your chest and read a meter and you're done. Non invasive stuff.
The bowel prep...well I join you in that. Glad I didn't have to.
How many of the things on your list suck now!!!! I warn you, all those after hyst tasks...the ones you are planning to do while recovering..like organizing files/taxes. Be prepared. I still have 6 books to read, some little butterflies to needlepoint for my mother, my files are still disorganized, etc. I guess I was too busy watching daytime TV and eating beer and biscuits!!!!! Just kidding!
Good luck to you all. This is a good thing that is about to happen. It is for most of us. It's like the shackels are off. I have so much more energy both mentally and physically. I thought I was getting old but now I feel 10-15 years younger.
Simi, you are a great 'list maker'. I am a list maker as well. Nothing like checking a task off the list!!!!
P.S. Sex is great!!!
