Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Dec 24-Dec 30,2012

If your hysterectomy was between Dec 24-Dec 30,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

After feeling really out of it and struggling with hot flashes all night, I fell asleep sometime after 3AM. I woke up this morning with pain, but after I took some Advil, it has calmed. I have yet to have a hot flash today. I am still sore, but I can walk around well. I am afraid to use the heating pad as the nurse suggested yesterday because I am afraid it will get the hot flashes going again. Happy holidays!

Hello Hun and welcome to the other side. I loved my heating pad and I'm not sure why it caused you to have hot flashes, but I can understand your concern
Please remember to pamper yourself and rest Try not to forget your pain meds so your pain levels will stay under control Hun Drink lots of water also, it will help with constipation as well as stool softeners Keep us posted on how your making out. Happy recovery

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Dec 24-Dec 30,2012

[quote=wanderingstar;3963156]Hi ladies,
I'm not sure if this is the right place for me to be posting since my LSH was done in September. However, my pathology results meant that I needed to go back in for a DaVinci trachelectomy (cervix removal). I had that surgery on Monday (12/24), was released from the hospital yesterday, and am now home recuperating. I'm feeling pretty good so far, though I am definitely sore. This time around, I think it's going to be a lot harder for me to lie low and rest. I am just not a very patient patient!

I hope that everyone else is doing well,[/QUO

Hi Hun I am not sure if this post should be here. I am thinking it should be under Separate Surgeries since you already had your LSH back in September. But I am not sure. I'll find out for you. I hope you have a great day hun and your recovery goes great.

Thanks for all the support. I think my recovery is going well. I am tired and do not have much energy, but that does not come as a surprise. The pain level seems to have lessened. My husband has been great. My only complaints are that my bellybutton incision is sore (not a surprise either), and I'm still a little constipated. I've been taking colace and eating dried prunes. Perhaps I'll get some relief today. No hot flashes last night! Right now, I think the worst thing I'm dealing with is the bloating. So far it's not so bad here on the other side.

I hope you can get some relief also. Being constipated can make you feel miserable My 1st BM was at 6 days post op and it was like giving birth to 5 rocks lol. The next was no better 3 days later. I have heard if you have a bowel prep it makes worse after surgery. You may want to add some more fiber to your diet also. Pain medication can also cause constipation but please do not stop your pain meds Hun Keep doing what your doing Hun. I am happy to hear you are doing good. Husbands can really come threw sometimes. no hot flashes are a plus. The swelly belly will be there for a little while Hun. The swelling is your body's way to protect itself from further injury. Swelling and rest is all apart if the healing process. Your body heals best when you are resting or sleeping this is one reason for you being tired. The other is that it takes a few days for the anesthesia to be out of your body. Keep up the great job your doing Hun. Happy recovery

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Dec 24-Dec 30,2012

I had my dVH/BSO at 7:30am today. I was home by 4:30pm. I was supposed to stay overnight, but I peed and pooped by noon (leftover from prep, I guess, since I hadn't eaten, but my bowels were working) and pain was tolerable with Percocet. I promised my surgeon I'd take it super easy and I have an awesome caretaker and begged to go home. I cannot take NSAIDs so I'm just on 10/325 Percocet every 6 hours. I'm shocked at how well I'm doing. I had a tiny bit of blood the first time I used the bathroom, but not a drop since. Followup is in 2 weeks. I'll be working from home starting tomorrow, probably.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Dec 24-Dec 30,2012

Hi. I had my surgery at 7:30 this morning and will be spending the night tonight I still have catheter and haven't passed gas. My chest/shoulders/tummy all hurt from the gas. I've walked a few times and tire very easily. My pain level is manageable with the dilaudid pump for now. I don't know what they will send me home wirh tomorrow.
I am starving! Can't wait to eat real food!
