Surgery scheduled

I am so scared, and worried...but my surgery is scheduled for December 14th at 1:00! I am having a tah, they are taking out everything. I have had alot of trouble over the past 4 years. Have had 2 ablations for heavy bleeding, and they just found out that my left side pain is a tumor the size of a grapefruit. My daughter said she wants to name it! You know, come to think of it, it is bigger than a 4 month pregnancy! LOL
At my age, I will take the hysterectomy!
I have never had any major surgery, only c section 18 years ago!
Im 47, and so tired of the bleeding and pain. I live on pain meds now, and I have heard how wonderful you feel after the surgery. I sure hope so for my sake! I am also a diabetic, so of course I worry about healing, but Im sure diabetics have surgeries all the time and do fine! Keep me in your prayers and thoughts!
Im gonna check out the rope thingy you all are talking about and the bed wedgy. Anything that will help make the healing easier, Im all for it! Thanks for having such a great website! I will keep you all posted!

Hi!

I understand that you are scared and worried. I had never had surgery and I had no idea of what to expect but reading all I could and staying positive helped me so much!

I will keep you in my prayers that you have a successful surgery and a very uneventful recovery. s

You're not alone! I had my TAH at age 48 (last year) and never had been the hospital except to have my child 20 years earlier! Fortunately, I had worked in the O.R. and knew the routine so it made me more comfortable in knowing what happens. It's all good! I don't even remember being put on the OR table! I was being rolled in and that was it! Then, I awoke as they were wheeling me to my room. I missed the whole recovery room party!

One suggestion: Let your hubby (or someone) be in charge of the medication pump at your bedside. They only let you have so much per 5 minutes or something like that. I was too drousy to remember to "click" it so I'd wake up in a lot of pain. I delegated that job to hubby (actually I think I screamed the command!) and he "clicked it" every time he could even if I was asleep. I got through the day/night very well and was able to do my own "clicking" the next day! I think hubby finally went home that night at midnight! He was tired but I was content.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you!
