Endometrial Ablation Failed! Hist. at 29 years old!!

Well, my doctor told me that the ablation officially failed. My next step is hysterectomy. I have started to have the same symptoms as before the ablation. I get a period then a week or two later get another period, also the cramping is getting much worse. I haven't scheduled my surgery yet. I am going on vacation to disney world in February, and I would love to try to wait until after that.

I am extremely nervous. The dr said that he would do it lap. and that I would only have to be out for a min. of ten days and max. of two weeks...just taking the uterus and leaving the rest.

I am scared and can use all they help I can get!!! Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Susan,

Well you've come to the right place to learn and reasearch about what you need to know and you'll find a very warm and caring bunch of ladies here that will help guide you through this time.

Is there any other reason other than your trip that your delaying the surgery as you have almost 4 months before that trip and things tend to just take a downward trend I found. I was actually forced to wait 4 months due to the fact my body had become so infected as I had let things go on for so long and I also became severly anemic.

I know facing this surgery is rather scary and honestly I was so scared but in the end for me waiting was the worst part. Granted we all heal differently and I do have a residual bowel issue from surgery that I'm receiving attention for now. Other than that I had a speedy and uneventful recovery and hopefully you will too. My only regret was leaving things so long before seeking attention that they had to delay my surgery as I was too sick.

Wishing you all the best...........Karen

Thanks for answering me. Yes, the main reason is that I am scheduling that vacation, and in the meantime, we have Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. I would rather it be at a not so busy time. My youngest dd is 5, and I still love picking her up even though she is getting a little to heavy. I know after having surgery I won't be able to hold her for at least three weeks! Anyways...I am also a procrastanator.

What would be the best way to get information on the type of surgery that involves Laperoscopic Hysterectomy and is it vastly different in recovery time?? Thanks so much!!!

Hi Susan,

If you type in LAVH in search you'll find some threads and go up to articles/options and if you wish to see what they do go to www.pelvicfloor.com but only if your not squeamish. I'll try looking up more information for you. You could even try googling for more information.

Take care.........Karen

Endometrial Ablation Failed! Hist. at 29 years old!!

The LSH is the way to go if you can. I had it done in August and am feeling sooo good!!! My dr. told me one week recovery and I wasn't feeling 100% until 3-4 weeks. I was able to do stuff at 1-2 weeks and could function alone at 2 weeks, but didn't feel 100% until about 3 1/2 weeks. I have 2 young boys (3 and 5) and watch my nephew M-F who is 1. So, I understand about the kids. Your dd can climb in bed next to you and when you are feeling better, climb on your lap, etc. So, even though you can't really pick her up for a little while, you can still cuddle no problem! If you had the surgery soon you would be in great shape for your Disney trip. (We are going in January- can't wait!!!) I wanted mine done, done, done! But, we all have our timetables. If you were considering having it sooner rather than later, I think you would be ok. Even if you were still tired at Thanksgiving (depending when you can get in for surgery), you wouldn't be in pain anymore. And you would be completely healed and feeling great by Christmas! Just my 2 cents. Take them for what they're worth. Good luck with everything. I hope this helps. I know how important it was for me to hear from others that had had LSH.

Susan,

Sorry to hear that your ablation did not work, mine didn't either. I am 38 and wanted a hyst in my early 20's, but the docs wouldn't do it. I had to have 7 surgeries to get where I am now, and I am so happy I had it done.

Please keep on asking questions and venting on the boards, it helps.

Thanks Ya'll!! I appreciate all of your stories, experiences, and yes, opinions. I am still on the fence about when to schedule...I still think it's better for me to wait until next year...but I am getting a bit anxious about it.
