Is partial myo possible

Hi. I am having problems with my fibroids and the only option I have been given is a hysterectomy. All other options been been ruled out because my fibroids are too large. Several Drs. confirmed this. My uterus is 24 weeks in size. Several fibroids with the largest about 15cm and a few at 8cm. I just got married a few weeks ago & we have no kids. Dr said he could not do a myo because of the size & location of fibroids. He is supposed to be one of the best in town. I was wondering if a partial myo is possible? Does anyone know if it would be possible to remove only some (the ones eaisest to remove) and then try to get pregnant? I am seeing him next week so I will know then I was just wondering if that's possible? Thanks.

Is partial myo possible

Dear Rose:

Perhaps you would get better options if you went to a fertility specialist?

Here is a link to the Fibroids section of our Resources Directory: https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/lin...=browse&cid=26

I hope you are able to find the right answers soon. I am sending huge cyberhugs

I had a myomectomy when I was 30 and had 2 sons afterwards!! I just had a hysterectomy at 45.

They could take a few out but why not all of them? They will most likely have to do it abdominally, (at least they had to 15 years ago to keep the scar tissue out of the uterus).

This will give you more time to have the family you would want to have.

A reproductive endocrinologist would be the best choice for a surgeon for you. A RE did both my myomectomies. A son resulted from the first one. Both surgeries were done abdominally, and both removed all that they saw. Yet, they regrew. If you have a myomectomy and intentionally leave some, you have even strong chances of having continued problems.

Best wishes.

You know, I just caught that your doctor did not want to do a myomecotmy. I had 26 fibroids, the largest the size of a grapefruit. I know they must have been all over the place.

Get a second opinion. And yes, they could take the ones that they can get if that is all that they can do.

My doctor was a GYN specialist. He did not do OB.

I went to the Cleveland Clinic where they had a specialist. No other doctors were giving me that option.

Keep looking and you should be able to find someone to do it. If the other options these ladies have given you pan out, try a GYN surgeon. One that does not do OB.

Another thing to bring up with the doc. They put me on lupron for 6 months and the tumors shrunk before surgery. Maybe that would be an option for you.

Thanks

Thank you for your responses. The Dr said It would be hard to get out all the fibroids because of the locations. Some are embedding in the uterine walls. He said it would be hard to reconstruct the uterus if he cut thoses ones out . He said between that and my age (39) it would be diffucult to keep a pregnancy. I think I am going to see a fertility Dr and see what he says.

I had all 26 in my uterine walls. I only had a 16 week uterus but he just peeled away the tumors. As I said one was as big as a grapefruit in the walls of the uterus.

I did bleed with my first pregnancy and was on bed rest for quite some time but delivered a healthy child. With my second one, I did bleed for 16 weeks and stopped.

Both were delivered to term.

I had several doctors tell me that my only option was a hysterectomy.

Keep looking until you are sure that this is the only option.
