Alcohol???

Have you all heard enough from me today or what? Stupid question number two. I know I will be a basket case the night before and I know that I won't be able to have anything to eat or drink after midnight. However....does that mean that I can't have a cocktail or wine to calm me down that evening? Again the things I think up.

Alcohol???

great question, to which I have no answer sorry.

I would really like to know the same thing. Although I think a hot bath and a massage sounds better for calming the nerves than a drink.

Alcohol???

I think the answer is 'no'...if the dr said no advil or aspirin, then probably no alcohol, either. They all make you bleed more, and that would not be good.

Alcohol???

Shucks, but I agree a hot bath and massage does sound pretty good. Can I do it now? I guess I will just have to have the drink two nights before and make a really BIG one LOL.

Alcohol???

Best bet is to call your doctor. My doctor said no aspirin, ibuprofin, Aleve etc. the 2 weeks before surgery but I was allowed a glass of wine the day before - I don't drink so it was no big deal. But each doctor/anesthesiologist/surgeon have different requirements. Call and find out what they say. But....don't do something that your told you shouldn't - it could cause a cancellation of your surgery. They're not trying to be mean or starve you. They are doing it for your own well being and health so listen to them!

Alcohol???

I was wondering if they would give you something the night before just for nerves. I know I won't sleep a wink, and I have to be there at 5:30 (7:30 op time!)
Is that too wimpy to ask for?

Alcohol???

Connie,

Thanks for the advice about the Ativan. I shall ask my doc for it so I won't be a crazy woman which I know I will be without a little calming influence and since no alcohol it will make it better I hope.

my doc. said no

I was given written instructions to have no alcohol for 48 hours before surgery, which I DO NOT like. I think that it thins the blood like asprin, but I'm not for sure on that. I think I'm going to take Tylenol PM, the night before. It's over the counter, and contains no asprin.
