Second Thoughts

My date is comming up and I am having second thoughts. I have been told for about 5 years I need this but I feel a little depressed about it. I have had endo and pelvic pain for a long time now. some days are better and some are worse. I haven't been feeling that bad recently, maybe that's why I'm having second thoughts. I've had pre cervical cancer and keep telling myself if anything else I'll be safe there. I don't know....I'm so wishy washy right now. I fear something will go wrong or the worst. Any words of wisdom??? Thank you so much for all the support you ladies have already given me!!!

I feel that way too but then things come along to reinforce that I have made the right decision.

Like this morning I was telling my favorite Waffle House waitress that I wouldn't be seeing her for a couple of weeks. She asked why and when I told her I was going to the castle, she told me she had everything out in 1996 and it was the best decision of her life! She couldn't believe how much better she felt and she would do it again if she had to in a heartbeat.

So as nervous as I am I know that I am doing the right thing, I tell myself that I will make it through recovery and I will be so thankful that I made the decision.

Think about me on Tuesday and I will think about you next Friday!

Second Thoughts

I had second thoughts all the way into the hospital! I was so nervous and stressed about it that I thought I was going to pass out before they checked me in. I joked that they wouldn't need anesthesia for me because I would already be out! It was the hardest decision for me. I kept worrying about what could go wrong and whether or not I was trading one set of problems for another (current bad health vs. bad surgical outcome).

I am so glad I had it done! It was no cake walk. (Be prepared to take it easy and rest during your recovery. It goes so much better that way! :-) But to have the pain and bleeding gone is such a relief. I feel like I have my life back. I can make plans without having to check my calendar to see if would fall during my "don't leave the house week". And I don't need prescription pain kilers anymore. There are so many positives!

I wish you all the best! Second thoughts are the nature of this surgery. It is a big deal and I can so relate to the stress and anxiety you experience beforehand. Hang in there!

1babe,
i completely understand. i had the exact same problems/conditions that you have prior to surgery. the last month or so i was actually doing well, but knew i had to still go thru with it. 5 days before my surgery i got my period (i had bad periods too) and knew i was making the right choice. my doc and i have tried so many different things during the years and hyst was on the "to do" for over 2 years for me.

i am now just over 5 weeks past surgery (tah bso on 9/17) and am feeling pretty well. i wont lie, those first 2 weeks are not fun, but you get thru it. take it slow and eawsy - you only have 1 chance to heal the right way. my doctor even told my parents and myself that he was SOOOOOO HAPPY that we did this surgery. he said he knew right away when he opened my up that we made the right choice. that made me feel really good.

i am sure youve tried it all too. you know how tough these conditions can be. i cant wait to be fully recovered and not have to worry about cancer, pain, bad periods, etc. look to the bright future, it is now within your grasp!

i was weepy the morning of surgery, but once i got that iv in (i hate them), i knew there was no going back (i wasnt going to go thru getting an iv and cancel at that point) and just made the most of it. i had a TON of people praying for me as well - that was a HUG help and a great blessing.

please feel free to ask any ?s you need to to know that you are making the right decision. we are here for you!

prayers and hugs...

Thank you relayholland. That does make me feel better. The dr. I have is new to me too, so I guess some of the worry comes from that. I have a feeling I'll be weeping the day of surgery too. I am almost there now. I do feel more encouraged that your situation is close to mine and you are happy about it. How long did you need help after your surgery?

my mom stayed with DH and i for 4 nights (shes a nurse and DH couldnt get off work). that was a blessing! by that time i felt ok and wasnt doing too bad - and she had to go back to work. mom and dad still come over to help out with cleaning and laundry even now - even if they dont need to. the only things i have restrictions on now are lifting and sex. its great to have them though. i had everything set up before i went to the castle (recovery room/couch, moms bed, food for everyone, that type of thing).

weeping is ok - shows we are human. i think i was more sad about leaving my kitty for a couple days. sad, i know.

youll do great, keep positive, but know that what you are feeling is normal. youll make a great !

let me know if theres anything else you need, i am here for you! my 1st day back to work is your surgery date and i check this site daily.

I was going to try to go back to work after a week. It seems unrealistic now from what I read. I have a office job. By the way what is DH? Husband? I still pretty new to all the abriviations.

what kind of surgery are you going to have?
i had abdominal and know there is no way i could go back after 1 week. i barely had a bm at one week. (sorry for that, may be tmi).
if you are having davinci then thats a very good possibility.

I had an LSH and tried to go back to work after 2 weeks. I work from home at a desk, so I thought I could do it. I underestimated how exhausted I would be. Take as much time as you can to recover! I ended up only working a couple of hours a day that week and really wishing I had waited a little longer.
