4.5 weeks post op and I still feel uncomfortable in clothing

Is it just me. Whenever I take the jammies off and put on jeans or pants my incision feels uncomfortable after a while. I have been in loose dresses and jammies since my SAH, I thought I would be able to put on some pants but they are just irritating. Any suggestions?

4.5 weeks post op and I still feel uncomfortable in clothing

Hi, Ladyb
Me to. I tried the stretch pants and all that but I still feel tight after a while. I am 5 weeks post and all I have been wearing is night gowns and dresses. Mine is more the swelly belly than my incision. I had a TAH/BSO and a vertical incision. I wear the real stretch panties (Love pants I think they are called) got them at K-Mart, I put a peice of gauze inside over my incision and the panties seem to keep it in place. It helps to keep things from rubbing against it. Hope this helps some. Take care.

Ladyb - I could put on my zipper pants at 7 weeks but they were too uncomfortable to wear to work...so wore elastic waist skirts with matching blouses (untucked) for awhile. It wasn't until around 12 weeks post that I could wear my zipper pants comfortably at work...but took them off immediately when I got home. Give yourself some more time and wear what is comfortable for awhile. It won't be much longer.

Dot:

Thanks so much for your insightful response. After, I wrote my post I turned off my laptop and cried. For the first time since my pre-op appointment I was frightened. Frightened that after my post op check next week, I would be released to return to work and have nothing to wear.

My sisters referred me to your site when we found out that time the time had come for me to take control of my life again. Both of them had TAH surgery and went thru it fearlessly. I couldn't figure it out at that time, but they let me in on their secret when it was my time.

And now after having had this wonderful site, with you wonderful nuturing women, I understand why they were so calm and so sure. I hope you women know what a god send you are. I feel a little embarassed now, after thinking about going thru surgery fearless and crying over not being able to wear a pain of jeans.

Please know that as soon as I return to work, hystersisters with get support from me. For without all of you, I would have been lost.

Keep doing this fantastic work that you do, for it is truly work.

Lillyrose:

I will try the stretch pants. Thanks alot for the advice. I need as much as I can get right now. You think about a lot of things you need prior to surgery but clothes was not one of the things I thought about. I guess this gives me a chance to go out shopping (or stay in shopping)
