LAVH: Upcoming hysterectomy 5/13: Hospital Stay?

Thank you everyone for all your help. It is getting closer to the surgery and I am getting nervous.

My surgery was abdominal so is different than yours. My doctor said that I would be staying overnight, and depending on how I felt I could either stay another night or go home. The following day I guess he felt I was doing well enough so allowed me to leave in the afternoon.

I had a total abdominal and stayed two nights. I wouldn't think you would stay longer than a day or two.

Thank you ladies. I will know for sure tomorrow. I'm going in for my pre-op appointment and bloodwork. My period came on today and it is painful. I'm glad I made the right choice on doing this. This is my last period. Friday is not coming fast enough.

I had a TLH on he 4th, I stayed one night. I was glad I did, I was still in quite a bit of pain and didn't start on oral pain meds until like 10 pm. After they kicked in I tried walking some around the ward. I didn't make it far until I was ready for bed again.

Let the nurses care for you and make sure you can feel confident in getting around before you go home.

I was in the hospital for one night.

I had a LAVH with1 ovary removed. I had to stay over night as the nurses took my iv out too soon & kept giving me phengran for nausea not knowing they dehydrated me... they were only suppose to give me zofron as my Blood pressure does not do well with the other. Blood Pressure dropped to 64/36... thankfully my MIL got the charge nurse to help & they moved me from OUtpatient to a room.

Once they got me fixed up & hydrated everything was better & I went home the next morning.

My surgery is schedule for next month laparoscopic, if everything goes well I would be going home the same day. Since it's my first time with general anesthesia it depends on my reaction to it and if the doctor finds anything that would require changing to abdominal hysterectomy and that would require one or more days staying at the hospital. I hope it goes well for you and have a nice recovery. Hopefully you won't need to stay overnight and neither would I.

Hi! I had the DaVinci laparoscopic procedure for total hysterectomy and I stayed overnight. My procedure was about noon and I was released at 10 the next morning. Good luck with your surgery!

Thanks. My doctor said for sure I will be staying in the hospital overnight and I will go home Saturday morning or noon. I'm so ready to get this over with.
