I’m Molly. I’m 46, and scheduled for my total hysterectomy on Friday, 10/30. I have a big fibroid that caused almost constant spotting and bleeding. I’ve had lots of cervical issues (LEEP, cryo, colposcopy, etc) so it has to go, too. My surgery will be a same day surgery, I go in at 7:15, and if all goes well, I’ll be able to go home around 4:00. She’s doing a laparoscopic procedure, and taking my uterus out through my vagina.

I’m both excited and nervous. I’m getting my house ready. The anesthesiologist said I had to stop taking my psoriatic arthritis meds, so I’m a little worried about pain in the coming days. I do my Covid test tomorrow and then have to self isolate until my surgery. My husband works at home, and I’m a homemaker, so it’s not a big deal. I do watch my 7 month old grandson during the day, though, so I’ll need help with that after the surgery.

Covid got me scared about my weight, so I started WW in June and lost 30+ pounds. I’ve been walking 5-6 days a week, so I hope I can get back to that before too long.

I’m so glad I found this site, it’s been so helpful! And it’s great to have conversations with others who are going through the same thing

XOXO,
Molls
Molly We’re glad you found us too. I am so sorry that you must be off your meds this week ... I know that affects your arthritis pain. Praying time will go quickly for you and the pain won’t be as severe as you are fearing. on your weight loss and starting to walk. Start out slow after surgery and build up a bit at a time.

remember you are not alone dear.

Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Oct 25, 2020

My name is Erika first time here. I'm 41 and scheduled for a vaginal hysterectomy on Tuesday. I'm also having a sling put in and they're fixing my vaginal prolapse forgot the medical term. I was bleeding so much for years and years like I read many others were too. Finally it was too much because my hemoglobin levels kept going down. Iron was almost non-existent. I'm completely terrified. I have an irrational fear of dying young so I'm terrified that something will go wrong during surgery. My mother died of cancer at 42 years old and I'm two months away from being her age when she died. I have two girls like my mom and I am convinced history will repeat itself. My hemoglobin is currently 8.6 and doc just called that my EKG had some irregularities so she will be speaking to cardiologist tomorrow to see if they can clear me for surgery. The little things feel like signs that something will go wrong as much as I keep fighting with myself to be strong and positive for my girls. Sorry not a fun post but having a mental breakdown currently. Thanks for listening. Good luck to everyone here this week.

QUOTE=Alibongo;1527793907]Hi hystersisters
A little about me, I'm 54 and due to have a full abdominal hysterectomy Monday 26th October. Many years ago I had a micro ablution (for heavy periods) it failed and I bled continuously for months after, when I got to see a doctor they suggested a merena coil or hysterectomy I was not ready to have a hysterectomy at the time so coil it was and it worked it stopped me bleeding.. Until I had my last coil removed (due to age by this time I was going through menopause) bleeding and pain started with a vengeance. . Anyway 2 years of pain and bleeding for weeks on end I'm finally having a hysterectomy!!.. I'm nervous as I'm sure we all are but also relieved that it is finally happening
It's nice to know we can share our worries together and help each other on the road of recovery x[/quote]

Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Oct 25, 2020

Hello to my fellow HysterSisters! I am 44 and scheduled to have my surgery on Tuesday. My doc is hoping to be able to do the robotic surgery but said if he gets in there and there is too much scar tissue or adhesions from previous surgeries (myomectomy and C-section) then he will have to do a laparotomy. I will be having my uterus removed. I am praying he can do the DaVinci procedure because I have a two-year-old who really doesn’t need her mama to be out of commission for 6 weeks!

I am not planning on taking too much to the hospital with me, though I don’t yet know if I will be there for one day or two. Aside from basics like slippers and nighties I am bringing my phone/charger and a couple of books.

Just ready for this to be over! After dealing with pain and heavy bleeding from fibroids for over a year I am just worn down & ready for some relief.

Any words of encouragement or advice about recovery would be greatly appreciated!
