Pre-op Today
Well, I had my pre-op visit with my dr today and all went very well . I have to say that the past few weeks of knowing that I was going in have made me a nervous wreck. Fortunately, I was able to spend a good amount of time asking my doc today all questions that I had. He was so kind and understanding to how I feel. I know that I am making the right decision now.
I asked him about epidural/spinal anesthesia. He states that he is very willing with me trying this type but that the two past cases he had using this felt like they could not breathe and had to be put under. I still think that I will try it. He did tell me that it will be spinal not epidural anesthesia and that it will be removed after surgery. My question is will I be numb or able to walk that night? I thought you were to be on your back 24 hrs after a spinal? He tells me that I will walk that night to prevent blood clots. One more question, did anyone have a breathing treatment (albuterol) right before surgery. His pre-op orders read that I should have a breathing tx. prior to surgery because I smoke. Maybe this is to clear my lungs and prevent coughing. Anyone experience this?
