Re: Question for post op Ladies

RM2 -

I had laproscopic and didn't use a binder. However what I used all the time to help support and comfort my belly was a tummy pillow. I could hold it close if I had to sneeze or for support when I walked, kept it between me and the seatbelt when driving for weeks and weeks and weeks.

It can be any small pillow that feels like it gives you some support. Actually mine was a stuffed animal and not really a pillow, pillow.

Re: Question for post op Ladies

I had a dVH and I never had any discomfort in my abdomen. I really didn't want anything too binding on my abdomen though. I was able to wear jeans by day 5 and they were fine. I would say everyone is obviously different..

Re: Question for post op Ladies

It seem to be different for each of us.

I have not been suggested or felt the need for a "belly band". I've never felt the need for a pillow, or the "guts falling out" feeling.

I did use an ice pack once or twice for stingy stitches - when they were dissolving.

I had 4 tiny incisions. It should have been 3, but I had endo sites low on my bladder that couldn't be reached. Keep in mind that endo and adhesions can't be seen until they are inside, the original lapro plan may have to be changed. Each incision had tiny sutures that dissolved on their own between the 10-12th day.

Re: Question for post op Ladies

I didn't have one. Can't say that I wish I had. With C-Sections I liked having a sanitary napkin (one of the big hospital ones) over my incision. It felt like it kept it shielded from harm somehow. My LAVH incisions are belly-button height and I kept a folded baby blanket between the seat belt and my belly for about 2 weeks. Other than that, just didn't want anything touching my incisions.

Re: Question for post op Ladies

In the olden days they used to wrap women after they gave birth.

If you feel like you need support, I don't see why an Ace Bandage wouldn't work.
I'm having Davinci, so I don't think I'll need support, but with all the athletic wraps in this house for all these football players, I'm sure I can rig up something if I need it.

Also, I understand the Spanx Stockings are wonderfull light support as well. They go all the way up to the bra line and have an opening for "facility use."

Re: Question for post op Ladies

With the daVinci I didn't feel I needed anything for support. My abdomen never really bothered me and the swelly belly was really minimal.
