Upcoming Jan 21 hysterectomy

Hi!!! Surgery is scheduled for this Thursday. I’m so nervous! I having abdominal surgery with multiple fibroids some are over 12cm. My doctor said my uterus is one of the largest she’s seen and I have a mass that she doesn’t know what it is or if it’s attached to something outside my uterus. I had a biopsy of my uterus wall and don’t have the results yet. I look 7 months pregnant. She also prepared me that my incision will be horizontal and vertical. I’m 54 and had very heavy bleeding.
I’m just anxious to get this over with .

My neighbor had the same type of surgery for the same reasons. She also had a bladder reconstruction.
I was nieve into thinking I would compare it to my 3 c-sections and it sure the heck wasn't. Bc being in military spouse while having our boys, I have 3 different lines that only over lap in the middle really and now I have my other 2 above my hips.
Your surgery will go well and I will keep you in my thoughts.

All of your feelings, fears, emotions and anxieties are completely normal. It is so hard to have something growing in side of you and not know what it is. Take a deep breath. Take one again. I know it is easier said than done, but do not get ahead of your diagnosis. Take this one step at a time, one day at a time.

I had a very large complex ovarian cyst (12x9x11 cm) and multiple uterine fibroids. My surgery was open abdominal with a 6-inch vertical incision. My surgeon was a gyn onc who did a fantastic job. All was removed and tested in the OR and was all benign.

Just know that you are not alone in any of this. We will be by your side throughout this process.
