Curious as to why Biodentical Hormone Replacement Therapy isn't tried more often?

I've been in perimenopause hell for 2+ years. I was frustrated with what the medical community offered for help and began my in depth research on how to help myself though this crap.
While I wonder on days like this when I'm feeling poorly again, if just getting a hysterectomy wouldn't help to get though this time quickly and not drag out 10-15 years. But after reading the forums, I realize it would not help, but could possibly make it worse.
In doing so I wondered why more women aren't researching BHRT for themselves? I've been on Bioidentical progesterone, estrogen and testosterone for a year. It has helped and takes a lot of patience...trying different doses, administration, types. Also realizing how every thing affects my hormonal health.
OF all the invasive "options" whether hysterectomy, birth control, anti-depressants, BHRT can be a life saver. Just isn't a quick fix and takes motivation and perseverance to get it right and willingness to make modifications with time.
Just continue to wonder why as women, we don't demand better?

Re: Curious as to why Biodentical Hormone Replacement Therapy isn't tried more often?

That's an intriguing question. I have a couple of theories. One is that women are just not aware of the benefits of BHRT for menopause when they still have their ovaries. The other is that because HRT got some really bad press in the earl 2000's with WHI study, they are afraid of trying HRT. Even though that study has be largely discredited with reanalysis and more recent studies, women are still scared to try. Also, as you mentioned, it takes patience to find the right combo, and some women give up with the first negative symptoms.
