Hysterectomy for fibroids and ovarian cysts?

I'm 45, been on birth control pill for 3+ years with great results. (Regular periods, no irregular bleeding) Had a period on April 29 thru May 6. Began bleeding again on May 13, passed very large blood clots for 5 days. Had sono and diagnosed with uterine fibroids and cysts on both ovaries. Have continued to bleed light to medium, blood clots have started again today but are much smaller than the previous ones. Appt with gynecologist on June 9. Am I probably going to have to have a hysterectomy?

Most hysterectomies are done for quality of life reasons, not to "save" a life. So the choice will probably be YOURS to make. Be sure to ask lots of questions, and get a 2nd or 3rd opinion if you are unsure. You can find lots of great info right here at HysterSisters
