Surgery Tomorrow morning :/

Well, it's almost here! I am so nervous. My surgery is tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. I hope they will be able to do the surgery DaVinci method instead of cutting me. I don't want to have to be in so much pain and have a longer healing time and hospital stay. My surgeon is really a cutie. He looks like Matt Damon! Lucky me! .

This is going to be a strange question but I know a lot of you think about it. Has anyone ever been afraid of possibly dying during the surgery? What are the bad things that could go wrong? What are the percentages of that happening?

Re: Surgery Tomorrow morning :/

tacal, I think everyone has that fear to some extent, although for me, it was pretty low down on my list of concerns. Lots of bad things could go wrong, but I'm not going to enumerate them for you because they are exceedingly, exceedingly rare. Feel free, when you meet your anesthesiologist in the morning, to ask him or her for a "happy shot" prior to going into the OR. Believe me, that will go a long way toward calming your anxiety! Happy healing and God bless.

Re: Surgery Tomorrow morning :/

Hello, I just want to add I know that you will be just fine. Take a deep breath and go... i am sure that this is probobly the best thing for you to do. All though i have had 5 surgeries in the last 18 months, and i have feared on all of them.. the last one they made me stay awake, due to me being 6 mos pregnant.. I cant say that it was any easier, but i am sure that you will be just fine.. I will hold you in my prayers tonight.

Re: Surgery Tomorrow morning :/

I was worried about dying as well! My surgeon BIL said it is less than 1%. If you are healthy other than female problems, there should be no worries.

Kind of normal I think. I try to focus on the positive and stop myself from thinking of to much scary possibilities. Good luck to you.

Re: Surgery Tomorrow morning :/

Hi, TACAL! Yes, a normal response, I think. My advice: take your time, breathe, ask any question no matter how silly it may seem, let your attendees/drs know if anything is unsettling or uncomfortable to you. This is all about YOU; they are all there just for YOU!! Hugs to you tonight & best wishes for a speedy, smooth recovery!

Re: Surgery Tomorrow morning :/

I think we all think about it. I try not to dwell on that thought. And think about no more bleeding. Cramping. etc etc etc......

And my dr looks like Doogie Houser! Cute in a kid brother's best friend kinda way..... )
