5 days to go and nervous, but finding humor...

My surgery is Wednesday. I've had weeks to prepare, so of course I let a few things go thinking I had plenty of time. Now I'm going crazy thinking of things I didn't do and don't know if there's time to get it all done. And of course I'm thinking as tough my husband and 16 & 17 y/o daughters are helpless and can't do anything for themselves so everything will fall apart when I'm not able to do it myself!

LOL, my 17 y/o daughter said to me the other day, "Mom, you don't have to have everything done for us. That's not your job. Your job is to go to the hospital and get fixed!" Well, I broke out laughing hysterically, while she thought about what surgery I'm having done and what she had just said. She was embarrassed and apologetic, but I still find it funny. I wonder if they will put a little tattoo on my belly like they did with my dog to show that she had gotten fixed.

Hi Sannah -Best wishes for your surgery and recovery. Why just a little tattoo to say you've been 'fixed'? Go for gold and plan a big one! Keep the fun alive and get creative with your family. Some interesting discussion could come out of it! And another fun but kinda interesting exercise if you are having abdominal surgery, is to wrap yourself up so you can't bend in the middle, and practise getting in and out of bed! With friends of course for more fun, but with a wound it is harder to move comfortably. It sounds like your family will be rising to the challenge of caring for you.

That's really funny! It took me a second lol. I think it's so sweet that she said that though. They will be just fine and I have a feeling they'll enjoy taking care of you for a change. Good job mom!

Now that I think about it I probably won't need a tattoo at all, since I'm having an abdominal procedure with a vertical incision. The scar will probably speak for itself!
