The refill call

Ok gals, I'm 11 away from D-day and called for my pain script refill. Nurse prac calls back instead of reg nurse as she is out of town. The lady procedes to give me the q and a. I make it quick with, "I am having TAH/BSO on the 8th, I am under pain management until then. Prior to this I have suffered w/o any help for 6 months and I refuse to be in pain anymore." I get the "How many are you taking?" I tell her I had a 7 day supply that has lasted 14 days, so its irrelavant how many I take, but sometimes 1 sometimes 1 1/2 and bad times 2 at a time. She advises me to try to do 1 every 6 hours.
Ok, so what's my point? Thank God I am havin the surgery and getting done and over with. I am SICK to death of these people w/o a clue. If I wanted meds, I'd skip the surg and be miserable enough to require them. I work in a neurosurgeons group practice and have yet to come across this kind of treatment toward cronic pain management with patients who have to be cared for. Why is it that GYN's and thier workers are not trained in this area?!
Ok, I've spouted off. All I can say again is, hurry up the 8th, stick a fork in me.....I AM DONE!

The refill call

Hi Charity,
I am in TN too. I will be having my surgery plus having my gallbladder removed Jan 9th. As you can read in my signature at the bottom, I have alot of back problems. I already see a neurologist that specializes in internal medicine and am on pain medication. Thank goodness. I have fibroid tumors and a enlarged uterus. I am kind of worried that the pain med's that they will give me in the hospital after the surgeries will not help me much, since I already take them on a daily basis. I guess if they know this maybe they will up my dose. I can't wait to get this over with, I have been in so much pain and discomfort. I have been having problems for about 6 months with bloating and thought it was from being constipated, but got that problem solved and still felt discomfort. I finally went to my gyn and he ordered alot of test and that is when the gallstones and fibroids were found.

I live in Midde TN and will be having my surgeries at Baptist Hospital. Good luck to you.
Stacy
