unsure about surgery, Scared
I am 34 years old and doctors have been trying to get me to do a full hysterectomy since I was 18.Now they say it has to happen,I have had MRSA from a surgery before and would have tgo back on a picc line and get MRSA meds just to have the surgery.I thought I could hold out longer and still try to have a baby.I am infertal and need to try IVF to do it but don't have the cash.
How do you deal with that? I am scared I don't know what to do.

This is a tough one.......and that's such a pitiful understatement. Without going into too much detail.......I've been through scary, unpleasant, unfair, desperate situations myself. I found help in the Serenity Prayer.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference.
If it has to be done.......there's no choice. You can't change it. If you want the joy of raising a child........there are other ways to fulfill your nurturing instincts.
I wish you wisdom and courage......until you find your serenity. And until that happens, I don't see anything wrong with screaming and punching pillows. Allow yourself a bit of time for sorrow and anger, just don't drown in it.
I'm sorry if this doesn't help....but I saw that no one else had posted a reply, and I just wanted you to know someone is here. And hoping.

Thank you. and it dose help. I agree with the pillow punching, I went to a gym and hit the speed bag, and did a few shots on the with a sparring bag, not good for my back, but great for the sanity it brings.
I know there are other ways to nurture and love a child even if its not my own, I just don't see it happening to a single woman on SSI that dosen't even cover the rent.
I really appricate what you said it is nice to know there is care and support.

I don't know what MRSA is but it sounds like you have been through alot. I did IVF 7 years ago and got pregnant on the first try and have my dear daughter but that was also after having two myomectomys 6 months apart for fibroids. I know the expense of it but I also know that there are some foundations that will help pay for it. If you look up IVF and research a little bit maybe you can get some funding for it. If your hope is to have a child then see what you can do before you have to give up. I just had TAH and I am only 39. It took me a good year before I came to terms with having to give up having any more children. My OB said she could believe I even had a child with my uterus still full of fibroids.
Good luck to you with whatever you decide.

I was scared myself ... so scared that I went looking for support and I found this website and posted the same way.
My surgery was scheduled for May I began to hemmorage March 6th and had my surgery on the 7th...the original plan was to cut me again because I had been cut before, the plan was to try and keep one of my ovaries....what happened, I had abdominal laproscopic surgery kept both of my ovaries and was back to work in two weeks...have faith
I know how scary it is, and I probably would have backed out but God knew and made sure I did what I needed to do and he saw me thru

thank you so much for all the replys, it is helping me try to deal.I will look into more options with IVF on my next appointment on the 29th.
As for MRSA it is the superbug everyone is finally talking about Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), it is a infection in my blood I have HAMRSA or hospitial aquired MRSA.Even when my blood cultere are negative I still have it dormant or " collinized ".It can come back with just a paper cut, or the flu.For me to have any surgical procedure I have to go through A picc line ( IV Cathedor ) and have extreamly harsh high dose antibiotics Twice a day via the picc line, it takes around 2 hours to do each time and almost takes more out of you than the infection.I have to be on it for at least a week before surgery and up to a month after.
Really thank you for responding, it helps to have someone understand what this surgey means, my family tries to understand, but they can't since they never had to deal with it.

Meow, from one curious cat to another, you say that doctors are trying to "GET YOU" to have a hysterectomy, which sounds to me like you are being coerced in some way.
So I wonder what is going on, why would doctors do such a thing?

They all have differant reasons for me to have this surgery, but every doc I have seen for the endo, tube, and ovary problems wants me to get a a full abdominal Hysterectomy.I got on Estrogen, progesterone and high dose birth control to help, dropped the progesterone a year later but have been on massive doses of estrogyn and high dose BC.
One doc tries to talk me into it so I can stop the hormones, but won't answer me when I ask him about having to take hormones if I have this done. The others just tell me they are concered about endomitrial cancer, and the amount of cysts I have had, along with the endo and S.I.N ( salpingitis isthmica nodosa ).They tell me they have done all they can for me.
I really don't know what is best, I have another appt. with a new doc on the 29th.

3 Meows.... tell me about your MRSA. I've had it too and was thinking about it when I saw your post. I was in patient care for 25 years but got it when my boyfriend was in the hospital for surgery and his turned out to be MRSA. while he was in Recovery, I went to my local bar to eat and remember perfectly scratching a place on my face. that's where I got MRSA. it was horrible... anyway, I was thinking about this when I go for my pre-op. I was wondering if they would do anything in particular for the MRSA even tho it was a year ago. makes me nervous to think about getting it again, it was so painful.
Hopefully your new GYN can help you with your problems. if you do have a total, that puts you into surgical menopause and usually that means hormones. but it won't be the same ones you were on before, I don't think. make sure you make a list of all the things you want to talk to your new MD about. Good luck!
