Mini Period?

Hello,
I have posted before and am leaning towards an LSH.
Simply had enough of the heavy disgusting clotty
bleeding. I'm ready to be rid of the bleeding.

My question to you ladies who have kept their cervix.

Are the mini periods predictable ( do you have "regular" mini periods" )

If they are not predictable, then is there a way to detect when they are coming ( since you will no longer have cramps )

And last but not least: Do you need a pad, pantyliner, or can you get away w/ nothing? And how long do they last?

I'm really struggling with this, and I'm sure that many ladies would love to see these answers as well. It will play a part in making my decision. If I go through all of this, the last thing that I want to see in my underwear is blood.

Thanks so much for any help you can give.

Mini Period?

I've had the so called "mini-period" every month since my hysterectomy in January.

It really isn't anything like a period, and it's only noticeable when you wipe after urinating; just a slight brownish discharge. No pads are needed, I use a pantyliner just in case, but it's not stained at all...oh and it only lasts for barely a day!

I still go through menstrual symptoms (tender breasts; somewhat irritability) each month as I kept ovaries as well. So it's just like planning on a period...that never really happens!

Best thing I ever did for myself..life is so much more fun now; how I wish I'd done this sooner!

Good luck!

Mini Period?

Hi Onesillychic,

I also had a LSH and I have not had a mini-period in post-op. I had my cervix cauterized during my hyst.

Mini Period?

Thanks to all who responded. This makes me feel so much better. I definitely am no so worried about it.

After changing pads 4 X per hour for about 2 weeks a month and being doubled over from cramps, even a day of discharge doesn't sound so bad.

Thanks again!

Mini Period?

Believe me, the first few months after surgery you'll think you're dreaming! I still have to pinch myself that I no longer have periods!

Like you, my period ruled my life every month, and now a slight discharge, and I do mean slight, is like a dream come true for me!

Best of luck!

Mini Period?

I have had 2 mini-periods so far...pretty predictable by the fact that the top of my cervix seems achy - if that makes sense. It is a slight brownish discharge, more the first month, less this month. No pantyliner, it's just barely "there".

My cervix was cauterized and my doctor said 1 in 10 women in his practice end up with a mini-period.

Good luck!

Mini Period?

I had a mini mini-period three weeks post-op. It lasted a day, and I barely needed a panty liner. It was not painful at all, just friendly reminder of the pain that I won't be having any more.

I had a fibroid the size of a 14 week pregnancy, so I had a LSH and kept my ovaries. After my LSH, I spent 24 hours in the hospital. I took percocet for for a couple of days. On my 8th day post-op I drove myself to the gym where I walked, used the elliptical and lifted light weights. I am now 4 weeks post-op and have no restrictions. I started running last week (only a half mile) and started doing ab work this week. I am so relieved that everything was so easy.
