Contacting Hewlett Packard

Hi, Jeanine--

I was talking to my husband about the server problem. My husband is a computer person and suggested that I might want to try contacting Carly Fiorini, the CEO of Hewlett Packard (HP) to see if she might be willing to assist Hyster Sisters in their plight for a new server.

My husband showed me a website that contained a statement "powered by HP." I was thinking about contacting
Ms. Fiorina to see if HP would consider providing any hardware and/or financial assistance. It would probably mean that the site would also need to display a "powered by HP" icon.

I thought I'd run this by you (for forwarding to Kathy) to see if this was okay before making the contact. Could you please email me and let me know?

I also thought we might use this thread to brainstorm and see if anyone has other suggestions or thoughts on how to come up with the necessary funding or equipment.

Can you help us get a new server?

You are certainly welcome to do that for us. We are needing a UNIX/LINUX server (not NT or windows) so I'm not sure if HP makes those.

Let me know what you find out. My next two days are devoted to finding the new server and getting us on it ASAP.

Letter Sent to HP

Hi Kathy--

I just faxed the letter to Hewlett Packard's CEO. I did check their website and saw information on some Unix/Linux hardware.
The information is on HP's website at:

I decided to fax rather than email, as the HP site states that
Ms. Fiorina can't respond to all email messages, and it otherwise appeared from the message on the site that we might not be as likely to get a response by emailing.

I'll be sure to let you know if/when I receive a response to my letter!

Best regards.

I'm making one last push here. We're almost there! I want to thank everyone here who has contributed already and I also want to thank those who have prayed for our success in acquiring our new server. If you are interested in contributing, you still have the opportunity by clicking on this link. Remember--you can donate as little as $5.00!

's to all!
