Bowel Prep - What to expect??

i was given a suggestion yesterday to bowel prep. a lady i work with said her doctor told her to use something like Miralax (what she took) a week before, so it starts to work ahead of time, making the nite before not so bad. she said it was nothing for her, once that nite came.

think i'm going to do that, once i find out what my surgery date is. i find out for sure next monday. i thought i might be having my surgery next thursday, but the doctor wants to see me first. hopefully it'll be on the 4th, at the latest.

just thought i'd share what i heard.

So glad u did not have to do two. My backside felt like it had fire coming out of it with one bottle.

OMG! I didn't even think about a bowel cleansing!?!? I just got my surgery date of Oct.11th and the nerves really set in once I got the date. Two days of cleansing and "going"....one day of liquid diet?? Nerves, anxiety....does anyone get any sleep before a total hysterectomy???

I truly want to thank all my "sisters" for all the thoughts and prayers that you are sending my way. So stressed over losing what makes me a woman. Fearful of what happens afterwards, how long is the healing, how bad is the pain?? So many questions. I have an appt. with my Dr. on 9/26 and I've got a list of questions. Worried I will forget to ask important question. I guess you could say......I'm scared!!

I asked my doc about bowel prep--he said high fiber 2 days before. i drank prune juice 1 day before and ate light day before. he said he didnt prescribe bowel prep ( very grateful) but took it upon myself for the prune juice. I had no problems and to leave hospital had to have bowel movement--it went well! best wishes for speedy recovery---each doc has own requirements and i understand most require bowel prep for many reasons.

I am reading all this bowel prep stuff and its freaking me out. I can only visualize myself going into surgery with a red behind. I am having Vaginal Surgery. I am sure the Docs will be humored seeing a fire engine butt hole.......will definitely get wipes and cream to hopefully lesson the redness.
