3 Month Check Up And Path Report

Hi Sisters

I went for my post op follow up today (which should have been at 6 weeks - but hey I'm in the UK and 6 weeks means ha um 3 months!!). Anyway I have had my mind put at rest and found out why I have been suffering for so many years from heavy painful prolonged periods..... I had adenomysis which was quite bad in fact so bad that they thought from previous examinations which included hystoscopy and ultrasounds that I had fibroids because my womb was so badly deformed and enlarged in certain areas due to the swelling!!!

I got the chance to ask lots of questions I had so I went armed with a list, some of which I will share with you now:

I asked about whether they sew up your fallopian tubes, if you have kept your ovaries as I did, and the answer was it depended up the surgeon some surgeons, as in my case, do sew up each fallopian opening after cutting off most of the tube - the eggs then get absorbed by your body as they did during your normal monthly circle, which incidentally surprised me - I always thought the eggs (unfertilised) came out of your body as part of that gooey running stuff I always got on day 12/13 of my cycle - not so that gooey stuff is your cervix lubricating itself in readiness for intercourse in order to get pregnant, that's the best way to conceive so I've been told today, which won't do me a fat lot of good now??

Anway the other question was about the vaginal cuff ( it's called a vaginal wrap in the UK) some surgeons again sew it up and others don't - both the fallopian tubes and the cuff or wrap heal as scar tissue naturally just as if they had been sewn.

I asked about sex and was told when you have a vaginal cuff (wrap) the vagina in actually longer than before because the cervix was in the way and now if like me you do not have a cervix, the vagina is capable of standing much more and so any of you ladies out there whom have been scared like me to have sex need not worry because there is no way you can tear inside because you actually have more room than before (I was told to go away on holiday and try it out!!! hahahaha)

So I hope I have put a few minds at rest because I was worried and wanted to know more - the gynae even drew diagrams to show me what he meant.

So tonight I'm having a few vodkas to celebrate my new-found liberation from years and years of misery and cheers to my new pain free life.

I have been discharged from hospital now and from my consultant after years so I hope this gives information gives hope to many of you worried ladies out there.

God Bless

Linnij

3 Month Check Up And Path Report

Thanks for all of that interesting info! I haven't had my 6 week check-up yet, so I appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge. I hope to have all of my questions answered when I go in two weeks. I should start writing them down now as I think of them.

Thank You

Thank you for sharing. I had many of the same questions and so appreciated your post.

I too was just diagnosed with Adenomyosis, learning the results just this week when my doctor revealed my Pathology Report. It truly did put all the pieces of the puzzle together, and gave such clarity to some of our long unanswered questions. I had previously been diagnosed with Endometriosis, also pathology confirmed, and I guess that overshadowed the Adeno. Medical and Surgical treatments were not the successes that we hoped and prayed they would be, and we never understood why. Now we have that closure and so much makes sense. It has been an amazing and difficult journey, and I feel so blessed that there is now a sense of peace and resolve.

Blessings
