New Sister

Hello all. I'm new to this board. I am 29 and had my TAH with BS last August (kept my ovaries.)

I had been on BCP literally half my life but stopped taking them when I had my surgery. Now here I am, almost a full year later, and I have gained 15 lbs, have issues with temperature, am tired all the time, and have started getting frequent migraines (I do take Topamax to prevent them.)

I think I need to be on some sort of hormone. It's been 15 years since I haven't had any in my system, and I think that's what is causing all of my issues. I wanted to see if other women out there started experiencing the same symptoms after their hysterectomies.

Thanks in advance! I'm so glad to have found this forum!!

**Additional note: Yes, I have made an appointment with my OBGYN. Unfortunately, I have to wait until July 29th for that. So I thought I would reach out here in the meantime. Thanks! **

Have you discussed these issues with your doctor? It may be helpful to keep a journal of your symptoms to see if they are cylical. Another thought is thyroid issues.

Hi MattsApple

I had my TAH on the same day as you and I kept my ovaries too. But I don't know how much longer I will have them. My issues with my ovaries haven't started because of the TAH has I have been experiencing "ovulation" pain for about 7 years since having my 3rd child and tubal ligation. Prior to that I was on BCP which obviously controlled my ovulation pain.

At present I am using a internal contraceptive ring to stop ovulation which is doing its job but am now having pain on and off on both sides which I can only assume could be cysts. At my last appointment with my GYN he found a haemmoragic (sp?)cyst on the left ovary. He will review everything at my next appointment which just happens to fall on our 1 year "Hysterversary".

I have kept a diary since my TAH which is helpful when discussing all of this with my GYN.

Good luck for your appointment on July 29
