Antibiotics - standard?

I forgot to ask my ob if he was going to run iv antibiotics during my surgery (TAH/BSO). I get infections easily and with lupus, I want to be covered. I thought I read somewhere it was standard to do that. I should be able to see him Monday morning for last minute questions. I'll make sure to ask that one.

Re: Antibiotics - standard?

I got antibiotics about a half hour before and during surgery. I don't remember getting anything afterwards. Hope that helps.

Re: Antibiotics - standard?

Can't say all, but most Dr's run antibiotics in the IV during surgery, at minimum.

Re: Antibiotics - standard?

I got antibiotics through my IV before/during my surgery. I do not know if all the hospitals are the same.

Re: Antibiotics - standard?

I got antibiotics through an IV just before and during surgery. I'd check with your doctor.

Good luck!
