Hi, Again about my Ovaries

Writing to you again about this subject.

I spoke with my OB and he said that he wants to keep them. I am 45 years old, and still far from my Menopause. He said if they are healthy why remove a normal organ, if they can work well for more years.
Is still my decision he said.
Maybe I am very uneasy right now , since my Surgery is coming (13 days )
Thanks for your comments. I need them . :<(

To keep or not to keep?

Hi ayalita,

This is a subject of much debate...One that does not always have an easy answer either.

HRT (hormone replacement theropy) is a viable option. It may take some time to get the balance correct for your body.

I can see your doctors point of if your ovaries are healthy, you may decide to leave them. Or if during surgery your doctor finds they are not looking their best, then the decission will be made for you, he/she will take them.

I did much debate within myself about this subject. My decission was that if my ovaries looked good, then I wanted to keep them. But if one or both were sickly, then they had to go. I'm 40 and just had surgery this past January 17th. My doctor let me keep my left ovary, but the right had to go. I'm very glad that I was able to keep one ovary. At least for now I won't have to be on HRT.

The time BEFORE surgery is the hardest! You may have heard that from many sisters here as well.

I wish you the very best in your decission of whether to keep your ovaries or not.
