pre-op ??????

I had mine yesterday, but I suspect they are all different. They went over the basics, check in time, length of stay. The scheduling nurse I saw wasn't as informed as I was, or so I thought, because I have read everything about pre-op & post op on this web sight. I encourage you to do the same. Read everything available here and join in the discussions. There are some really great intelligent women here. Good Luck!

pre-op ??????

I second reading reading and reading some more here. Even if you just read the pre-op and Hints for you hysterectomy forums you will walk away with a wealth of information.

I went into my first appointment to discuss the possibility of a hysterectomy armed with accurate information and the courage to ask for exactly what I wanted and the knowledge to back up my reasons for asking.

Really do take the time to just read read and read some more. You'll be very happy you did.

pre-op ??????

When I had my pre-op he discussed what type of surgery I was having and asked me if I wanted my ovaries and cervix,(kept ovaries, not cervix, my choice) He also discussed the pro's and con's of the procedure, asked me if I had any questions and had me sign a paper stating that I understood everything with the procedure. We did not discuss the time because my hospital is the one that called with the time. They also called at a different time for all there pre-op questions also. Depending on how many questions you have and how much you discuss the procedure will be the factor on how long your appt. will be. Mine took a 1/2 hour. But each Dr. is different. What ever you do don't rush, make sure you get all your questions and concerns answered and you will thank yourself and feel so good after doing so.

pre-op ??????

Hi,

When I went to my pre-op appt with my dr, i was given a form to read, asked if that described the surgery and they took a culture. It was also a time to ask any questions that you may have. The visit took approx 30 min.

The Pre-Admit appt at the hospital took about an hour and a half (maybe a bit more). They ask a ton of questions, ran an ekg, chest x-ray and took blood. Its also where I learned about my bowl prep (yuck)

I am not sure if all pre-admits are the same. I would imagine it depends on what you dr orders as well.
