Surgery Tomorrow

Hi Sisters,
Tomorrow I go in for a LAH. I've had a d&c and an endometrial ablatiion, both times under sedation. I've never had general anesthesia and I'm nervous about the tube in my windpipe. Sounds painful. Hope some other folks are going in tomorrow so we can heal together.

PS. . . pep talks welcome!

Re: Surgery Tomorrow

Not to worry! They will insert the airway after you are already asleep and remove it before you're fully awake, so you probably will never even know it was there. Some people experience a slight sore throat afterwards, for which ice chips are great; some don't even have the sore throat and it's like nothing was ever there.

Best of luck tomorrow!

s,
-Linda

Re: Surgery Tomorrow

Don't worry about the tube going down your throat - you will probably not be awake for that.

When you go into the pre-surgery area, they will make you feel comfortable and may give you medication to relax you. They know you are nervous. During your surgery, the doctors and nurses will take very good care of you. They are all well trained professionals.

Good luck to you. We will be waiting for you on the other side.

Re: Surgery Tomorrow

Like the other two said, I don't think that the tube will be too bad. I had it and it never bothered me. I did end up with a slightly sore throat but the doc gave me ice chips. It really wasn't anything bad. Can't wait to see you on the other side.
