Bloating Before Period

I HAVE BIG FIBROIDS AND AN ENLARGED UTERUS. I AM DUE FOR SURGERY ON MARCH 25. DID ANYONE HAVE PRESSURE IN RECTUM AND BLOATING BEFORE PERIOD? I FEEL LIKE MY NAME, MOOCOW! SEEMS LIKE SYMPTOMS GET WORSE RIGHT BEFORE MY PERIOD. CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS TO BE OVER WITH. MAYBE MY TUMMY WILL BE SMALLER???????????

Oh yea, Moo! I had lots of that bloating before the old period! I have to tell you though that after your hysterectomy you may get, what we call around here, swelly belly. I think this is mainly due to overdoing and things getting swollen in there. Kind of like any wound...it may swell. I am 6 mos. post-op and very occasionally still experience swelly belly, but not as bad. I can get into all my clothes so it's really not a big deal. Sorry to have to break that news to you, but it's the truth.

I feel the same way. If period is on track it should start in 10 days or so and today I feel about 3 months pregnant! Gassy, bloated, you name it. I hope it goes away also.

Awwwwww Hugs Hun. Yes the bloating thing is real common. I had fibroids and a prolapsed uterus and bladder before my hyst and yes looked about 6 months pregnant. Yes the bloating also got worse near period time.
I am now 7 months post and the bloating is nearly nothing, I can see my feet again and it is great. It does take some time to godown, but I am sure you will return to normal. Let us know how things are going. Hugs Vicki

Yes, yes, yes! Same diagnosis, same experience with bloating and pressure, and same self-image as your name! Maybe the only difference is that I also have a huge, bloated belly all month long! (Uterus the equivalent to the size of a 5 month pregnancy)

What has helped me a little is to cut out caffeine (reason enough for a hyst!) a couple of days before my period starts and to begin at the same time to take Ibuprofen. This was recommended by my nurse/practioner and has relieved it a bit. Still waiting for a date for surgery for the ultimate relief - I'll take swelly belly short term in exchange.
