New bleeding 9 days post-op

Hi everyone! I had my LSH on April 13th, so I'm 9 days post-op. I kept my ovaries and cervix. I thought I was actually starting to perk up yesterday, but last night I had some pain on my left side, then later had some bleeding. I haven't had any bleeding since day 3, so this was a surprise. I was wondering how common this is. I really haven't been doing much, just loaded the dishwasher yesterday, maybe up and around more this weekend with my son home from college. I'll probably call my doctor tomorrow to check it out. I have another question. I'm supposed to go back to work a week from tomorrow. Has anyone else gone back after 2 weeks?

Hi! Definitely call the doctor tomorrow. Since you kept your cervix and ovaries you can have a mini period but better to call and be safe than sorry.

I went back to work on Day 8 for a few hours 3 times a week. As long as you have a desk job, a boss that will let you leave if you need to and coworkers that will help you it should be okay. The first couple weeks were a bit rough because I would get so exhausted and need a nap. The good thing for me was I work for a doctor and was able to go into an exam room, shut the door and take a nap any time I needed.

Good luck! I think you will do fine. Just don't push yourself too hard.

Re: New bleeding 9 days post-op

I would call your doctor. As for going back to work, it totally depends on what type of job you have. For me at three weeks post op, I was totally exhausted within a short time, was really uncomfortable and it was not a good idea. I have to move around and am on my feet quite a bit and also have to lift and adjust people in wheelchairs throughout the day.

Re: New bleeding 9 days post-op

Here's an update: I did bleed a small amount the rest of the weekend, but this morning it changed to more of a brown color. I called the doctor, and they said I probably overdid it a little, maybe from bending over or twisting. I need to take it easy and it should be fine. That was a relief! I have my post-op Friday, so hopefully all will be well at that time. Thanks for the support ladies! I'm glad I found "HysterSisters". It's nice to have support of other women who have gone through this. I don't feel so alone

Re: New bleeding 9 days post-op

Try taking it easy over the next few days. It is very easy to overdo it and not realize it until you are in pain. Sending wishes for an uneventful few days and a good post op Friday.
