Re: LSH: I'm super scared!

So sorry you're scared. I was very scared and had bad anxiety. You will be in my prayers. This won't be forever. It takes time to heal.... but take it easy and let yourself heal. BIG HUGS

Re: LSH: I'm super scared!

Don't be scared! Think positively and use this time to prepare so you won't have anything to stress about after your surgery. I had a TLH (dV assisted) and am so far recovering with no issues. I'm just a few years older than you, so your recovery will probably be smooth and swift!

punkrockprinces!

Being scared is normal. This surgery is a very BIG DEAL. There is so much to deal with, and you are very young. Make sure you ask your doctor any questions you have. Here is a list of questions to ask your doctor, as well as other pre-op information.

I know you feel overwhelmed right now, and you are very emotional. We are here for you, and will help support you. You are not alone, never on this site! Get on and ask your questions and express your fears, freakouts, and emotions. We are only a few mouse clicks away.

Re: LSH: I'm super scared!

I'm 33 and having the LSH on Tuesday. What part makes you scared? The surgery part, or not being able to have kids, the unknowns like the pain or how long to recover... Everyone is different. It can be important to understand where the source of the fear is if one is to over come it. I'm not really scared about having the surgery. I think about things like, am I going to have to have a catheter...is it going to hurt? But, the nuisance it's been to have my uterus I'm GLAD to be rid of the thing. I'm sick of being in pain. So, come what may I guess. Also, my faith helps calm me, meditation helps calm me. Another thing that has be focused is the fact that one of my best friends was diagnosed with throat cancer the day after I found out I was going to have surgery. Hearing of her pain, and seeing what she's going through pales in comparison to what I'm about to do... I don't know if any of that is helpful but maybe something there is food for thought.

I'd also like to add that it may be helpful to have a counselor. A lot of us are emotionally charged during this time and have difficulty coping effectively. I'm a big fan of counseling and having someone give you the tools to cope with all you're going through. Have your friends and family around you...mine were a fantastic support system as I am single.
