Severe low back pain

Hi! I have had some really bad days recently. Last Tuesday Aunt Flo came to visit. That evening my dear husband took me out to eat. When we were finished I went to open the car door and all of a sudden got the worse pain in my low back. I hadn't bent over or picked anything up or anything. He got me into the car and home. I thought a hot shower would help. It didn't so I just went to bed. Well, since it was the first day of Aunt Flo, that meant up every hour. When I got up an 11:45, I couldn't hardly walk. The pain was so bad. I was sweating bullets and very sick to my stomach. I got really scared. I told my husband I thought I should go to ER. Anyway, we did. They said I had sprained my back. They gave me an injuection for nausea and pain, gave me pain meds, muscle relaxants and a prednisone pack. I am better but still have the pain. What I am wondering if this could be caused from the fibroids and female trouble. Has anyone ever had anything like this? I just can't imagine straining my back when I didn't do a thing! Anyway, I thank you in advance for any comments!

Severe low back pain

Hi Caddy,

I'm sooo sorry to hear that you have sprained your back! It sounds like the pain must be awful.

Many gals here have had pretty severe back pain due to fibroids, endo, adeno and so forth. But your case does sound a little different. Did the docs at the hospital think your reproductive system problems might have caused you to sprain your back? Are you going to follow up with your GP or gyn? I hope so ... that will give you another opportunity to ask questions.

Maybe someone else will be along who has had a similar experience ...

Meanwhile, I hope you are taking it easy and getting good relief with the meds you were given. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Severe low back pain

Thank you Beth, for your reply. I am going to my GP this afternoon. The ER doctor didn't really say anything except a sprained back. I felt so bad that night that I didn't ask a lot of questions. It just amazes me that one could "sprain" your back when you weren't doing anything!! Maybe I am just too impatient. Anyway, thanks again, and I will let you know what I find out this afternoon.
