Curious - Does Endo Cause Ovaries To Swell?

I'm hoping someone out there has an idea on how this works. I had to have my left ovary removed two years ago because it was double its size, not to mention cleaning up full blown endometriosis everywhere it could possibly attach. Now my right ovary is double its size and I'm scheduled for a TAH for it and stubborn endo complications. Question: Does the endo cause the ovary to swell? I also had cysts, but they ruptured as the ovary swelled.

My left ovary was negative for cancer, so I'm not expecting anything like that. I just wish I could understand why they self-destructed.

Thank you for any ideas!

Rose Garden,

Love the name. When you have endo on the ovary, the ovary fills with old blood and forms what is called a Chocolate Cyst. The blood does not drain well and keeps building up. (this may be what I have so I've done some research) Good luck to you!

Rose Garden, I also love your name. You must be a gardener like me. Unfortunately endo has a mind of its own. Like melsey said you may have a chocolate cyst. I had endo on my right ovary but no cyst. My surgery is the Monday before yours. I pray that our surgeries go well and they get all of the endo out. A lifetime of pain is more than enough for me. Will they try to save your right ovary or take it because of the endo?
melsey ~ I wish you an easy surgery and a fast healing ~ wow next week. I hope the week goes fast for you!!. I have been keeping busy going heavy cleaning. Now if I can get my hubby to move the stove and refrigerator out. LOL I have to use the nervous energy in a positive way.

Best Wishes to you!!!

Thanks for responding! Yes, I do love gardening and roses are particularly fun for me.

My cysts were clear fluid, not chocolate. However, I guess it could just be the irritation of everything -- similar to how the chocolate cysts cause swelling. It's actually all ovary tissue now that is double the size. The tearing of endo scar tissue and bursting of cysts as the ovary grew was fun. Unfortunately, nothing can be saved this time. There's just too much going on in there.

I'm too am running around the house cleaning and stocking up on everything. I don't sleep well with this nervous energy so I keep trying to burn it out!

When I head off for my surgery I hope to see you two are doing great!
