Surgery on the 4th 9 yrs after gastric bypass, what should I expect?

I am having cervix and uterus removed and I'm worried about several things, mainly weight gain and complications. I had rny surgery 9 yrs ago I lost 160 lbs and have been doing really good with continued weight loss, but will that change? Also, with no cervix, does it make sex less enjoyable?

I haven't had a bypass, but I can answer to the fact that the lack of cervix doesn't make sex less enjoyable. The loss of hormones, if you have ovaries removed too, is more likely to have an effect on your sex life, but each person is different. Some have improved sex life.

I will also say that I have lost weight since my surgery in May. I am down nearly 40 pounds without changing much at all - mostly walking a bit more and not binging on PMS days as frequently. But again YMMV (your mileage may vary.)

I also lost weight after my hysterectomy, mostly because I was able to resume exercise pretty soon but also because I had started eating more healthfully. I had a daVinci, so no big cut. Was walking the same night. You will probably be pretty tired for a while but try to get a little gentle exercise every day, even just walking around the house a little between naps. Good luck!

Thank you!! After both c sections both with complications I was up and moving quickly, really don't think the down time will be a problem, but I guess I am just worried about metabolism issues. I am keeping ovaries...

I'm right there with ya. Had my gastric bypass in 2005. Had 2 babies and now about 30 pounds from my goal weight. Surgery in 12/19 and keeping ovaries. Hoping to still be able to get some more weight off, too. Good luck to u!

Re: Surgery on the 4th 9 yrs after gastric bypass, what should I expect?

I had RNY surgery on Oct 17, 2011 & a hysterectomy keeping both ovaries almost 3 weeks ago on Nov 14. I have lost 125 pounds and have been creeping closer to my goal weight, have about 10 pounds to go. I am hoping that no longer being anemic will give me more energy and allow me to be more active so I can get these last pounds off.
