Life in the YEARS after hysterectomy: 30s...the new 20s

I am 29 years old and I have had everything removed. My problems started 2 years ago when I had my right ovary removed due to a pre-cancerous tumor. After that my body never went back to being normal. I was diagnosed with Endometrosis and Ando and therefore had to have a hysterectomy. The doctor removed my uterous, remaining left ovary and cervix. I am still in recovery but doing pretty good. Thanks to the Hormone Replacements I have not had any menopause symptoms yet. I was really concerned with having a hysterectomy being this age but compared to the other condidion I think it was for the best.

Thank heavens for this site for support. It is great!

TVH at 30

Hi all! I am 30 years old and am recovering from TVH on 06/28. I found out years ago that I had endo and recently found out in January that I also had adeno and a prolapsed uterus. I turned 30 in March and thought I was too young for a hysterectomy but I then got my next period and all those thoughts went out the window. I was reminded with all the clotting and pain why my doctor made the suggestion to do a hysterectomy. Once he was doing the surgery he also found a endometrial cyst the size of a grapefruit on my left ovary. This was supposed to be the good ovary. He was able to salvage the right ovary so I do still have that. I have been blessed with three beautiful daughters ages 7, 4 and 2. Because of this I feel a little at ease with the fact that I will never have children again. My husband and I decided long before the surgery that our days of having children are in the past and we were preparing for our future. This just seals the deal on that. I am happy to report that I am recovering well and looking forward to a pain free future!

You Are Never Alone

Welcome newcomers. Galant's statement touched me because before finding hystersister I felt alone...here you are never alone and as I approach my 3 year hysterversary I can say with assurance that in most instances there is light at the end of the tunnel and a brilliant rainbow after the storm. Be well sisters.

Life in the YEARS after hysterectomy: 30s...the new 20s

Hystersisters got me through some very dark days after my surgery, as I was dealing with not only hysterectomy (with no children and being single) AND having a very rare cancer, which led to me having to HAVE the hysterectomy. It was a horrible time in my life, but having this website helped me make it through! I have even made some wonderful friends that I continue to communicate with! If anyone needs to talk, send me a line, I'd be happy to help. I had a TAH/BSO and right hemicolectomy (partial bowel removal) on March 23, 2007. I am doing well! {{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} TO ALL OF MY SISTERS!!

Life in the YEARS after hysterectomy: 30s...the new 20s

Hi! I'm 36 and still consider myself to be in my early 30's. I am also single and don't have children. I HAD to have this surgery due to complications. I'm OK with my choice. I knew it had to be done. Of course, all of this is on a rational level. Emoyionally....I've had better days. Has anyone had the experience of starting a new relationship after the hyster? When do yoiu bring it up?

Life in the YEARS after hysterectomy: 30s...the new 20s

33 here, was 32 when I had my hysterectomy. They left my ovaries due to family history of stroke. Last week, due to severe endometriosis I had to have my ovaries both removed and he says he got all of the endo off my surrounding organs. I'm living in fear of the pain returning... so I am trying to find anything i can do to keep it from coming back. I never knew this disease was capable of taking over your life this way. My husband tries to be understanding... but he IS a man. He thinks its me just making "excuses" and doesnt really know the pain I have been in. I think after the doc told him about how i was eat up with Endo, he understands more now. I think now he feels guilty... and that doesnt help me either. I just need him to understand and leave me be until I can recover. I am so emotional and having hot flashes. But besides the fear of the family history, I am terrified if I go on HRT it will make the Endo come back. Just do not know what to do. I heard about a great pelvic pain specialist about 3 hours from my home in Birmingham, AL. I think I may give him a call.. Not sure my GYN would refer me... I dont think my GYN knows enough about Endo tho.
But as for being young... I knew i had no choice but to have the surgery. I have 2 beautiful children.. and I had a difficult second pregnancy, so we planned not to have any more. But when you see a baby... AFTER you have the surgery.. it does bring about a bit of sadness. Oh well, too late to think about that now huh?? Well, glad to be a part of such a great group of ladies and to have such wonderful support and advice.

Re: Early 30's

To hear of improved health is always wonderful. Well it will be 5 years post operative for me in August and I've never felt better in my life. I have a full and rich life with my DH and my kitty kat. We are traveling, gardening and planning for retirement in the next decade. I'm older, wiser and stronger, nothing holds me back. We are more intimate now that ever holistically. I wish you all the best and know that with special care of oneself day break comes with joy!
