Baking something for the nurses/doctors

When I was in labour with my first I couldn't rest and so I baked cookies and brought them to the hospital for the nurses and doctors. I was thinking of doing something like that again for when I go in for surgery. As a way to say "thank you" ahead of time. I just thought for those who are trying to find something to occupy your thoughts as your surgery approaches, it might be something you want to do as well. If I get a day where the pain is not too much, I'll go pick up some nice gift boxes to put them in with a handwritten note and drop them off to the wards (for the OR staff and for the ward staff) before I get admitted to the hospital.

I hope each of you has a beautiful recovery! 3 weeks tomorrow, and I'm counting down the moments because my uterus is reminding me as much as it can why we can no longer be friends.

Re: Baking something for the nurses/doctors

My husband is a nurse at the hospital. He said that would be so terrific is one of their patients brought in baked goodies. They wouldn't be able to help but give them extra-special care!

Re: Baking something for the nurses/doctors

I would check with the hospital first about home-baked goodies. Some are not accepting them now due to allergies, and hygiene...how do they know you used proper handwashing, etc in your kitchen. (certainly not implying that "you" wouldn't...just in general.

If it is not permitted (I've never had a problem here with that) then a store-bought box of chocolates is just as sweet.

Re: Baking something for the nurses/doctors

I regretted not picking up McDonald's/Starbucks gift cards for the nurses that took care of me. They were so great at taking care of me. Just saying thank you to them didn't seem like enough.
