At this point, I do not trust any doctors. I am still in pain internally and was given the green light for sex and work, and yet i have NO libido and no stamina to work and i researched and if you had your cervix removed, we have a shorter vagina! So................. Here we go gals.... off into our our territory with wondering what the heck is goign on. I'm sorry to have to post such a bummer email. And No one responded to my last post about libido and i will start a new thread about it. My SO is ***** as **** and I feel absolutely nothing. I am about to give up here.

Recovery,

I did respond. don't know if you saw it. I understand your frustations. I've had low libido for many years. Anyway, the estrogen seems to have helped me a little. maybe the right hormome balance will help you at some point. I wish i knew. I hope you feel better soon. You are in my thoughts. Kathy

I am kind of right there with u on the trust issue. I don't feel I have been able to get answers from my gyn and I have had to do research on my own through this entire journey. I'm so glad I found this place.
As for the libido issue, I don't really know if mine is kicking in or I'm just reacting to being told I can't. I don't have so much the urge as the idea... But I'm definitely not going to rush it! Sorry you didn't feel you got support on your post, I haven't been the best at giving that, I am kind of in a hermit mode some days. I don't want to venture out of my comfort zone much and admitting some things makes it too real. I tend to post on here hoping that if something I'm dealing with is abnormal, someone will post. I think it's very common among us that libido is affected. You shouldn't give up. I believe there has to be a balance we can find. If it isn't working one way, we have to try another. Right now the HRT seems to be working for me, but if I stop feeling that 'level', I would have to try something else. Having dealt with panic/anxiety issues and the meds that go with that helps me, I know that just because one way doesn't work...it doesn't mean it won't ever. I say trust your body all the way around. If it doesn't feel like the right time, don't push it. Talk to DH...tell him your fears. I've had a hard time with that too, I figure the more he knows about this surgery recovery - the less likely he will EVER feel like sex with me again. BUT... I am learning that he is just as concerned about these things as I am. Just as worried about my wanting to have sex again - just as worried about hurting me as me worrying about it hurting...on and on. For me the intimacy issue is MUCH bigger than sex. I want that connection back, and I think sex will be hollow without it. So I'm working that angle first. I figure when it comes down to it, if I've gotten that feeling of being so connected to each other - then the rest will come. Men are sexual, there is little that will change that. Him wanting me probably won't be the issue. What I have to do is build up the eye of our hurricane again. That place where we both feel the safest we've ever felt...with each other.
Sorry I babbled, hopefully you get what I mean, but I just know how frustrated you are. I am there a lot too.

Thank you for replying, both of you. I don't feel so alone with this now. The lack of hormone balanace is causing me to feel so sad, tired, confused. I will give it some more time.

Recovery,
Sorry you did not get replies earlier. I have had that happen before and I know it made me feel even more alone...
I am not sure about the libido issue because my doc has given me two more weeks. I am still healing on my cuff he said. I am still spotting red every day. I kept my ovaries but feel tired a lot, I do not have my normal stamina which is hard with kids and I think DH forgets or thinks hey it has been 6 weeks! I too feel like a hermit at times. Did go to a party last night but was suppose to go out with some girlfriends today and cancelled. Rather stay home with the kids. I still get achey and the doc just said "well, you are still healing" Nothing else! I guess that is all he knows. I have a history of ovarian cysts and kinda wonder if I have one..now rethinking why I kept ovaries. Anyway I am rambling now..you are not alone!!

I think you are right about the hormone imbalance. Your are difinitly not alone. It takes good while for your body to readjust. It's frustrating in the mean time. Anytime you need to share your thoughts I'd be happy to listen.

I am sorry that you are experiencing this. I am not having the loss of libido at all so I don't know what to tell you. I have gone the opposite way. I had pain before so now it is such a relief to be able to be with my husband with out the pain. As far as the hormones go, have you thought about seeing a specialist? I have decided that I am going to cancel the appointment with my gyn at my 6 month post-op appt when he was supposed to set me up on HRT. I am going to go to an endocrinologist. You are obviously suffering. You need to see someone that will listen to you. I would also encourage you to find a woman. Who better to understand about hormones than a woman? My gyn is a man, not that I have anything against men...my husband is one. LOL But, I believe a woman will understand a woman better. Just my .02!!

Jennnifer,
Thanks for your reply. I looked in the yellow pages for endocrinologist and can't find any in my town. I guess I can always ask my ob/gyn who is also a man. But he wants me to give this Estradiol at least a month.

Have you had your levels tested? Dr Vliet (the book I am reading) highly recommends getting blood tests while you are tweaking the dosage. She said that we can feel "good" but our levels might still be too low for bone and heart health. What we perceive as feeling good might not be so good because we have felt bad for so long. My dr said that he would not test my levels. He strictly goes by how the patient feels. So, I am giving him the boot in that area. I am starting the process to see the endocrinologist in my area. I see my GP tomorrow so she can refer me.
