adhesions??

Hi, I am 10 months Post(TODAY)! TAH/BSO, I was justwondering what adhesions were and what they'd feel like and how would you know if u had them and how would they be treated if you did have it?
I have been having this intemitten sharp pain in my L side kinda feels like I have been doing the twist too long if you KWIM. I thought it was gas b/c I gave GI issues and take meds for constipation. But I took it last night and still have the pain today so I called my GI guy and he will be calling back, just curious if it could be somehting else.
thanks

adhesions??

Dear Cher...

What a bummer that you are starting to have pain again!

While I have had pelvic pain for years, I have not had too much trouble with adhesions so I am not much help there... I have read other ladies describing it as a pulling feeling.

I am 16 months post TAH and have surgery scheduled in Feb at the Mayo in Scottsdale for continuing pain problems. The Gyn there thinks I am still having trouble with Endometriosis but time will tell. I noticed that you suffered from Endo as well but with a BSO there is less risk of a return even though it is still possible (which I didn't realize until I found Hystersisters).

Let us know what you find out from the doctor.

adhesions??

Cheryl,
This site www.adhesions.org has some good information on adhesions, what they are and what kind of pain they cause. Is it possible that perhaps you pulled a muscle? Gas can also cause different kinds of pain. After one of my surgeries following the hyst I had the worst pain in my sides, someone mentioned gas and I didn't think that was it because of where the pain was located, but I started taking lots of gasx and that particular pain finally subsided.

adhesions??

sarah, what kind of surgery are you scheduled for now? I had to havea my GB removed 4 months after my hyster,Yes I had a BSO also I really don't think it is endo again, I just think it has to do w/ my bowel troubles. I have IBS, a hiatal hernia, and reflux!! Lucky me. I take Nexium for the reflux and lactulose to go "#2" other wise I dont go.So I think that has alot to do w./it.
I missed my call from the Gastro guy today b/c my son was on line GRRR, but It was 5:00 and I really didn' t think about it that late. Now I will have to sait til tomorrow morning to call again.
Kim, thanks for your reply too, I am going to check out that link u
sent!

adhesions??

OK I know i have bowel trouble, I was NEVER really regular, but I went w.o needing meds, now after reading that site I am really scared of a blockage. If I had a blockade in my intestines or anything I wouldn't be able to go at all right???
