More Problems, how can this be happening?

Dear Sisters,

I was in tears  all morning. I had to go back to my GP Monday because not only am I having ab & back pains, I started having some kind of attack in the upper right abs over the weekend. I could tell a little while back that I was having twinges in that area but just ignored them due to all the other stuff going on.

I had a terrible night last night, severe attack, if it hadn't been for the vicodin around the clock making it bearable I would have been in the ER.

My GP sent me for more bloodwork(starting to feel like a pin cushion) for liver, gall bladder and urinalysis for kidneys, etc. Then next Monday I go for an upper ab US. He is looking especially at the Gall Bladder since that area was painful to touch during his exam.

I am not sure I can't take this, I am venting in tears because even though I know this is not life threatning I am just so tired. I have pushed so hard to keep up at work and my DH and family have been so supportive but I just want this all over.

I have seen a lot on Gall Bladders etc on this site and am doing a search..... any other info you ladies have would be great.

I also have an appt with my old surgeon who did my append./meckles/adhesion removal 2 years ago for a 2nd opinion on my upcoming LSO/adhesion look on 2/21.

Sorry this is so long...... please pray they figure this out before my next surgery.

Thanks,
DLK

I'm going through the same thing!

For about six months, I've been complaining of upper G/I problems. They did find some bleeding ulcers and I've been treated for that. But the upper Rt side pain continued and worsened. I've been ignored until I dropped weight, started and then ran a fever. They did an ultrasound and my gall bladder was bigger than it's suppose to be and full of stones! They told me it had to come out. I had some complications from it... (long to list here)

Anyway, I know the heartbreak you're going through. It's really tough to say the least.

More Problems, how can this be happening?

Thanks for the reply.... I tried to go to work half day today but I am totally wiped. I got there and realized how exhausted I was and I keep feeling fevered. Called the DR back and they saw me this afternoon. DR wanted to bump up the US to today or latest tomorrow but didn't want me to have the 3 hr wait at ER to get it done. He personally called and made the appt for 8AM tomorrow for me, I was impressed. I came upon him by accident too, my office didn't have heat so they sent me his way this past Monday. He really seems to be very caring. Sent me home with percocet and said he made arrangements to have them page him with the results tomorrow morning.

The odd thing or maybe fortunate thing is that I had made an apptmt with my past surgeon for tommorrow to get a second opinion concerning a LSO/adhesions exploratory type lap my GYN has scheduled for 2/21- so hopefully I will get some real resolution tomorrow.

Please pray for me, I am totally stressed- in pain in so many different places they seem to take turns hurting and very nervous about the decision I might need to make tomorrow.

Thanks again,
DLK

Gallbladder....

The way you can tell if it's your gallbladder is to eat something with alot of fat in it. If you start getting pain in your right upper abdomen, good chance it's your gallbladder. When I had mine out, I got severe attacks that radiated up thru the shoulderblade on the right side. Terrible pain!! But it was removed & no problems since! Good luck!

More Problems, how can this be happening?

did you have the severe attacks in the middle of the night?? I am not a high fat eater but do eat too many simple carbs which I understand task it too.

What kind of test did they use to diagnose it?

Actually, most of my attacks were in the middle of the night. Sometimes so bad I thought I was having a heart attack! And all the Tums, rolaids, & pepto bismol in the house wouldn't help! But the biggest teller is when you eat any thing with fat, especially meat. That will bring on an attack faster than anything. I knew after several attacks that radiated into my right shoulderblade that it was gallbladder attacks. They diagnosed it with an ultrasound of the gallbladder. Also, they routinely order an upper GI to rule out any ulcers. They saw the stones on the ultrasound, I had surgery, & felt great ever since, at least in the gallbladder area. Now the hyst is another story!!

More Problems, how can this be happening?

It is really starting to sound real suspicious. I had an attack over the weekend and I had chips and cheese dip for dinner. I know it wasn't the most healthest thing but sounded good at the moment. Again, I will say this though, that is way outside the norm for me, I eat almost everything either low fat or fat free especially cheese and dairy products. Possibly I have been keeping it under somewhat control with the low fat diet??

Then, last night, I had a severe attack which if I hadn't have had pain meds on hand I would have ended up in the ER. That night I had a Fire grilled Salmon salad for a late dinner. I had been reading where the omega3fats are supposedly good for you, but I am wondering if they are still hard on the gall bladder for certain individuals.

The tale will be told soon I'm sure or at least I hope so.

Thanks again for reply,
DLK

And another thing that might contribute to gallbladder troubles.....following a super lowfat diet. If you research gallbladder & gallstones, you'll find that people that follow really lowfat diets have a high incidence of gallstones. And your chips & dip had more fat in it than it sounds like you normally eat. Did your salmon salad have a dressing on it? A dressing with fat? It sure sounds like possible gallbladder problems. Good luck with your tests. If you have to have it out, it's a much easier surgery than a hyst!!
