Upcoming hysterectomy with urethral sling - can anyone else with both surgeries offer advice? Thanks
Does anyone know if adding the urethral sling procedure adds any additional time to the recovery? I have 2 different docs doing the surgery and the main surgeon seems to be only focusing on the TLH. Anyone have any experience with both surgeries? Thanks in advance.

Hi Jbruchs -
I wish I could answer your question, but I cannot.
We do have lots of women on this site, so hopefully one with similar experience will see this post and respond.

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy with urethral sling - can anyone else with both surgeries offer advice? Thanks
((Jbruchs)) My surgery was a dvTH/BSO, rectocele and enterocoele repairs and the ligament that holds the bladder up was strengthened and pulled up. I didn't have a sling so I can't give you a specific answer but I can share from having extensive repairs. My recovery went very well. I followed all of my post op restrictions very carefully (my URO/GYN sorta read me the riot act before surgery about that. ) Initial recovery for a hysterectomy is 6-8 weeks. I drove at 2 weeks (off narcotic meds), went back to work part time at 3 weeks, and full time at 4. My main issues were the soreness from the repairs (it was hard to sit) and exhaustion. Most of my restrictions were lifted at my 6 week post op . . . the lifting restriction lasted longer because of the repairs. I need to insert here that we all heal at different rates dear . . . unfortunately this is not a "cookie cutter" recovery.
on your surgery dear. We will be waiting for you . . . please keep us posted.
