Surgery is fast approaching.....

Well, the countdown has entered the single digits!! My moods are all over the place. Keeping busy has been the best medicine. Just wanted to touch base with everyone and hope all is going well. Let me know how you are all coping during the homestretch.Take care.

Surgery is fast approaching.....

I started my last painful period today. If I had any doubts they are gone now!
My mom is jealous of me. She said "Where was the hysterectomy support group 30 years ago for me??"

Anticipation!!

Hello, Oct. 5 Sisters!! I'm having a new procedure which I call a "four point hitch" using a new mesh. My Dr. has only done about 5 of these and says that all of those princesses are doing well. She's going to do a bladder and uterus suspension at the same time with the piece of mesh. She'll tack it in 2 spots on the front of the pelvic bones & then 2 spots on the back. It'll be laparoscopic, with the uterus left there (can I still be a hystersister if they're not taking it out?). After that, she'll do the posterior repair (everything down there is prolapsed!!). She's so enthused about this procedure that it's easy to be confident; she talked passionately about it with me & seems truly happy to be doing this type of medicine. So I"m cleaning the house & closing up the garden & cooking freezer meals etc. Also writing letters to my family & setting up my sewing projects for postop. Keeping busy helps with anxiety...also talking to family & friends helps. Best wishes to all Hystersisters!! Jeanne

Surgery is fast approaching.....

Hello date twins!

My moods are all over the place too. One moment I will be calm and know the surgery is the right thing to do and the next I am on the verge of a panic attack. My DH has been so sweet during all this, I just hope his kindness extends into my recovery time, lol. Good luck to all of us and God bless!

Surgery is fast approaching.....

Last night I dreamed that it was Oct 5, 5:40 am (I'm supposed to be there at 5:30 am) and we had just left the house but the roads were so icy we could only creep along.
Anxiety dream, I guess! I do not expect snow in October in Missouri, although stranger things have happened!

my surgery is two days prior to you guys. i am both scared and anxious. i got over my period 1 week ago and already the pain in my pelvic and low back are starting again, i have alot of pressure in my vagina, when i sit down it feels like when i was pregnant. today i started getting stabbing pains in my vagina (sorry if its tmi lol) my co-workers were asking me today how i could be so happy and bubbly, i told them why should i walk around crying? this is something i know will give me and my husband the quality of life i have never had!!!! good luck to you guys

9 days and counting

Mine is Oct. 6th. My co-workers keep asking me why I'm so quiet (I guess I'm usually a loud mouth... ) Must be deep in thought. Once I finally let go of a lot of the worries, I've felt pretty good. But I went to drop off my short-term disability papers at the surgeon's office (which is in the hospital) and I kept wanting to keep driving. I went down to surgical admitting to ask if they will accept a generic Health Care Power of Attorney or if I must use their form, and my stomach hasn't been the same since. Can't seem to get it settled down. I've scheduled two dinners out with friends next week, a haircut, a pedicure, and a massage.

Once I booked my surgery, I didn't have a period for six weeks, and then it was a very mild one. Made me kind of think about postponing the surgery. But I know the fibroids and endo (and who knows what else) are still there - lurking, and will raise their ugly heads again.

I moved this month and was looking forward to that keeping me busy, but I crushed my thumb on Labor Day and haven't been able to do much but boss other people around. The apartment is not going to be anywhere near ready - I still have floor to ceiling boxes - and I'm feeling panicky about that. At least with the mangled thumb, I got to practice the pain scale in the ER....
