CIN3 - second cone or hysterectomy? Success story
Hi there,
I’m writing this post because it’s the one I was always hoping to find, and usually success stories don’t make it up here.
I had recurring HSIL paps, hpv 18+, treated with LEEP which found negative margins but on follow up still produced a high grade abnormal pap. I was referred to an oncologist who took a wait and see approach while I was pregnant. Post pregnancy, I had a cone biopsy, which found CIN3 with positive endocervical margins.
My oncologist and obgyn didn’t agree on the next step. Onc favored 6 month follow up, ob wanted hysterectomy. I could not deal with the anxiety much more and wanted everything out, scheduled the hysterectomy. The morning of my hysterectomy I couldn’t go through with it. I had the oncologist perform a second cone biopsy which found no abnormal tissue. I just received the results from my 6 month follow up pap and it was clear and negative for HPV RNA.
It’s been a long journey and I’m elated that it’s over.
